I heard the same rumor, all this Miami Vice talk makes me think of the Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler
I guess the TV show was a bit before my time, I grew up on Dukes of Hazzard reruns

Can anybody confirm or deny this?
I was told that the very first MV boats were 39' ChrisCraft Stingers, but they were so hard on the equipment that they broke all of them. Then Cigarette was not willing to give them free boats, but Wellcraft was.
Anybody know for sure?

I know the first ones were Stingers, I don't know why they went to Scarab's but I know they had 3 of them. Don Johnson may have had something to do with it since he got into racing then and raced a Scarab. I think he even had something to do with a limited edition one.

The stinger Tubs steals from Crockett in the first episode, "Pilot Movie" was Don Johnson personal boat. It was the only time it was used as they got an official stinger for the rest of the season. The boat used for the rest of the series was the stinger with the blue stripes that he used in the boat race episode. The KV Scarab was in my opinion the best of the vice fleet.

Newby here. Didn't even know there was a M V coming out!! Used to love watching that show! Since everything that appears in a movie or TV show these days basically an advertisement the boat would have to be one with big promo $'s to spend. Like Baja. Maybe Cig and Formula could afford it. (I bet Reggie would through the money that way! )
