That picture doesn't do justice for that paint! It is awesome.

Did you get any pix of the Kirk's new 43 Nor-Tech? How does it look?

Fever Mike is right on the money. The boats look great, but the Wellcraft Scarab does not get the respect on the resale market it deserves. The Larry Smith boats, however can hold their own with the big boys in my humble.

Resale is poor at best. Get a good deal if you want to get out in a few years. If not you may be stuck .

Fever, I have not seen Kirk's new Nor-tech yet. It should be coming to Texas soon. It was at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show and I heard that it was awesome!

Sonic28,
The scarab will have less head room,I think 4'8" is the max. I had a 1988 Scarab Panther and it had about 4'6" headroom. The wife wouldn't stay on the boat overnight so thats when the Sonic 358 and now the 386 came into the picture.

It really is too bad the market got scared-so to speak-in regards to resale of scarabs after Genmar stopped making them. They are awesome boats. A buddy of mine has a 97 w/Teague 800's and #3a's and! Mike Bobbits AVS 38 w/Pfaff 1100's was well over 100mph boat...both solid a$$ rides.

Pretty much what everyone said above is true about Genmar pulling the plug on production, they stopped making all the SCARABS except the 33 open fishing boat, they still pay a royalty to Larry Smith...the company found their profits to be more making fishing boats throughout the WellCraft line and not performance boats

From what I understand Larry Smith has now gone back to building the SCARAB brand as a custom built boat in a 39, 42, and 50

As far as the resale value on most of the late models, I don't really believe the resale is that bad, the lines, luxury, and performance of those boats is still among the best, and if anything...if you own one you might be able to monopolize on the fact you can't get one anymore

I think if you are able to buy it right, you won't lose later on when you sell it
