Re: 38 scarab opinion
Genmar decided to focus Wellcraft on building fishing boats only. The performance boat
market has been soft for many years and Genmar wanted to leave the production capabilities open for more profitable products. That, plus the royalties they had to give
Larry Smith for the Scarab name made the decision a slam dunk. The 38 hull was a winner.

I believe '02 was the last "Genmar" Scarab built. You can still get a Larry Smith Scarab though.
The 38' Scarab whether the KV the non stepped or AVS hulls were all kick a$$ boats!!!

Re: 38 scarab opinion
I have the last Genmar production 38 Scarab. It is a 2003 with 575's and runs 82 on gps. I was hoping that it would run faster, but it has a very solid ride. I love the way this boat handles, and the paint job turned out great! There are some good deals on 2001-2002 38's out there. Go for it!
