Is running "with the sea" and "quartering" ocean water related terms, or just a generic term in regards to the direction of water flow? Also, rollers are non existant on my playground as they are somewhat small lakes, with Lake Cumberland being the largest.
I'm "guessing" Cumberland could be compared to Havasu or Loto for water conditions?? Just for the sake of my use.
Thanks

For me ( in REALLY general terms ), the drives are 'set' depending on the size and direction of the waves, and the tabs are 'tweaked' to the attitude of flight and entry. . . drives are moved more in unison, tabs indepenently.
Honestly, a couple weeks in "ocean conditions" crystallizes the concepts. There really is no substitute.

It all depends on the boat on where you set the tabs and drive. My 28 single engine Pantera flies so level, I can pretty much run the tabs all the way up 80% of the time. Actually I wish I could get the nose up higher and run looser. At 40mph or less, I have to run the left tab down to about 3 on the indicator(5 is parallel with the bottom. Even in the roughest water, The tabs are never deeper than a nuetral position. In rough water(3-4's), I run the drive at neutral trim(2.5 on the indicator) and trim up from there to about 6 for top speed depending on water conditions.

tabs? who needs stinkin' tabs..... just trim it out to about 6-7 and hammer those throttles, the rest will work itself out.
oh yeah, watch out for those rollers when running that way

Every boat varys! X dim varys, where the tabs are mounted on the hull varys, isthis a single or twin? What legth, what speed are you running? Ocean or lake?
Lots of variables here, there is no general setting for all boats! The faster a boat runs, the less of an angle the water leaves the hull, hits the drives! depending on the X dim.
Some will say 3 or 4 on your gage, well if you have a high X, you may be blowing out at that number. Unless buddy has the same boat with the same X dim, we don't know what the best setting is.
Tell us what you are running, and some one with the same boat will have the best idea!
