There's a 37" active cat, ex-race boat at LOTO I looked at last fall. Twin canopied deck, no engines/drives, trailer included. If you're interested, it could probably be bought for under $5K.

The hull is rougher than that one. Like I said, ex race boat, but I didn't find any structural problems. Twin/split canopied deck with rough race interior. Rigging is there, but I would syggest replacing it. But the trailer alone is probably worth $5K.
See the following links for info on it.

It will look great when it's done. My personal thought is the tunnel is worth about 15,000 to 20,000 without a trade providing tanks and interior is good to fair. meaning if the seat frams are shot than you can't reupholster them and you don't have to cut the floor out to change the tanks.Kool project though

From my understanding the tank is out, no cokpit either. The first time I made contact with the seller. I almost fell off my chair when he told me $65K. We are much closer now
However some have to much money in there boats to actually realize what is the true
market value. I really didnt want to insult the seller. I realize i have more money in my engines then my hull is worth. I would need a serious tail wind to get 20K for my Hustler
bare hull with trailer. Its not about resale its about spending the least and getting the most.
Thats why these projects fire me up I can take a 20 year old relic and throw hours and short money at it and looks like I spent 300K on it. Then again If I had the money or the
balls to make the payments maybe I would be in a MTI or A Skater. Im playing with the hand I have. The only things I cannot change is the year and the lenth.

Yes you recognized it!!! Bob Morgan told me the same Story. I called him and aked if he had any hulls around that I could throw big power at and Arnesons. He gave me the lead.
Its a prime canidate for rough water big power.
Thats what started this.
Jesse any info you can dig up would be great.

Gary Just got off the phone with Carl. Nice Straight up guy.
I am Emailing him a picture of this and he in return will send me some of the older one.
It sounds to good to be true. I think he told me there is no cabin. and it is setup with 4 seats to race. But heck for the price ya cant beat it. Do you remember the condition
of it ? Why didnt you pick it up?

Thanks Again Gary.

Gerry

Re: Active Thunder Cats

Condition was rough, with only a few scrapes outside. Interior was strictly "raceboat", no cabin. Stringers seemed sound and couldn't find any hull problems. It's unpainted, so repairs should have been VERY obvious.
I didn't buy it because of the email responses I got. From those, it looked to need bigger power than I was willing to put together (greater than 600hp). Although I did consider a 4 engine package, and that's still a possibility if it's still available this spring.

Not sure if this interests you, but in Boats and Harbors, there is an ad for a "Navy Seal Gun Boat"...it looks to be a Blue Thunder catamaran and they are asking 15,500 with no motors or drives... the number is 727 243 2219

The sellers sending cockpit interior shots. I will post them when i get them
Bob Morgan told me he built it. others have come forth and recognized the boat also
I even have another OSO brother that is digging up a video and pictures on the lake Mead event this hulll was in.

The seller is still a little steep on the price.

Re: Active Thunder Cats

That is a 37' Active cat built by Ross Focht sr. No matter what anybody tells you that boat was built back in the early 80's that is the plug hull for the 39' Express cat, add the infomus express bussel on the back thats what made that 37' a 39'.
Call Ross sr. (810) 794-5551 tell him spark told you to call ! He will confirm this with the picture.
Ps. They also added 5" of free board to the hull from 37' to 39' the 37' pleasure decks were very rare about five with a pleasure deck all the rest were race decks.
Just my .02 cents.

Guys,
Ross Jr. and Sr. Told me its "not theres" As a matter of
fact "Jr " called me Monday and ask me if I have any interest in his new 38 which
just came out of the mold. He sent me pictures about two months ago on there new
Cats. He dropped his price $40.000 since we first spoke.

Maybe your Right did you look at the transom photos? Wheres the big center
square notably used for the Ocean express steering hydraulics??

ViciousOne 12-27-2004 06:06 PM

Re: Active Thunder Cats

Caveman, The bussel on the back is what helped make that boat a 39' along with the extra freeboard they added to the sides. Maybe somebody pulled a mold of one of the original 37' Active marine pleasure decks, Does anybody really know what happen to the assets to Active marine!!!
That is almost the same hull as a 39' Expess, Wouldn't you say John? How have you been?
I just moved again ! I bought a building on I-94 and north river road in Mt. Clemens. I have been staying really busy building new boats, I have done some refinments to my 31' hull and made some big speed improments 117 mph with stock HP500 EFI's 1.26 ratio 32 hydromotive 5 blades and she runs on plane at 1400 rpm's with no spray!
Hey got to go! I'll try to get on here more often then twice a year!!!!!!

Spark
