For the record I must now disclose that I am kind of an old dude too.

And I have been known to wear a baseball hat after a run, but it's because I still have hair. :D

I'll go semi-pro on the pics :D Nice babe, nice boat but....whose the fugly dude? :drink:

Now on that plaque/memorial thingy...that is what this was about eh?

A little history (that seems to be big around here). I had the first condom I used bronzed...not to mention a certain twister board (gettin' that 55 gal drum of warm wesson oil done was a bit of a beeyotch :D but anything is possible ). So in keeping with the spirit, lets throw the Floridians a plaque and call it a time. You can have the boys from Hightimes mag do the art (beak included), stick it near a couple ganga bushes on some REALLY white sand...right next to a park bench with an IRS advertisment....there all done.

As this seems to be more of a private party I'll mosey on back to the uncencored section now :evilb:

You can't see me, but I'm raising a small to medium sized martini glass full of martini parts to you at this moment. Cheers.

I toast your attitude. I toast the fact that you use complete sentences and punctuation, which is a dying art. Heck, I'll even toast Fountains.

Re: Don Aronow Memorial

I just got all the knowledge in the universe by PM.
Amazingly, it got in under the 2000 character limit.
(Except tomorrow's lotto numbers, I checked right away.)

It told me that the memorial will never happen in that location because of local politics that most of us are unaware of.

It also said that it would be a mild winter.

It also said that gas would be cheaper next summer.

The bad news: when I am old I will have to get a really big boat to keep attracting women. I was afraid of this.

I better go get another martini.

el indio 12-08-2004 06:18 PM

Re: Don Aronow Memorial

dude if you think the boat thing works with girls you should see what fist full of 50s can get you in south fla.never needed material things to attract woman i have a great sense of humor, lasts forever.if you read this thread it is pretty funny.poor another one like the other one.cheers dude.

fund razor 12-08-2004 06:41 PM

Re: Don Aronow Memorial

You only like this thread because we are talking about you instead of Don.

Nobody could figure out why you were so negative about the idea.
Now we know, that you think that we should have had a poll:

-Don Aronow should get a plaque

-Magnum Mark should get a plaque

-Allan4 is still a putz

Now, a check of the all knowing PM says that Allan would have run away with it.

But still, it hurts to have been stading there on the sidelines and have Don get all the respect, even after he has been gone for so long. Let it out Mark. You're among friends here. It will be ok.

There's always Lucy's birthday.

The all knowing PM just reminded me of something I hafta go do.

Fund Razzer.

That's funny. I was razzin you.

I don't really care about the memorial. I think it's up to the locals.

I think that Don earned the legend status that he has. Be it infamous or famous.

Re: Don Aronow Memorial

I can make the point better:

Plaque or no plaque, it doesn't change the fact that we all know his name, and so many great brands.
The fact that this was a fringe "sport" when Don was doing his thing, and now Cigarette has become like Kleenex in terms of one brand standing for an entire class of products.

Only a marketing virtuoso could go down the same street selling the same company and concept over and over again.

The boater in me thinks he is ok. The marketing guy in me thinks he's a freaking genius.

A) There should be OSO awards for threads.

B) Most aggregious hijacking should be a category.

C) This puppy should win.
