Dollar per hour of use

1 Attachment(s)
In light of people takling about trailer queens, how about the next worse thing

Those of us that pay for our boats and nevre if hardly use them.

Need to include hte following
Monthly payment
Insurance
Storage
Gas, that is going bad sitting for so long :(
Slip, is so lucky to have one :(
License fees
Breakdowns, sometimes the reason why they sit for so long :(
This amount added up for the entire year, divided by the number of hours logged on your meters.

Mine comes out to be just over $2510.00 PER HOUR
:drink: :(

Your a masochists.
I start to twitch even thinking about, thinking about it.
A while back I categorized all my expenses in Quicken to figure out where all my money was going. The pie chart was basically one color, that was the last time I ever used the program or pondered where the money goes.

Some of you guys are making my Baja look good here :D Just under $200 an hour. Of course it helped I get 80 hours in this year. I definitely don't want to share that number with the wife the next time I suggest we take a boat ride to get lunch :evilb:

Payments
gas
insurance
Dock
Storage
Maintenance = $33,000 x 50 hours = $660.00 per hour

Dont want to even think about it when you add for the 60k repower coming next month.

I must say though, We spent alot of time lounging on the boat in the bay rafted up with great friends making memories.... in other words

PRICELESS !!!!

Are you going with the 525s? They should run you around $40-50k for a pair. Where are you keeping the boat for the Winter?

Fortunately ( ), it was a busy year for me. 38', 600's => $528/ hour. A bargain, considering what it did for my mental well-being.... :drink:

Unfortunately, being the idiot I am I have 2 boats. Not including insurance, fuel or other ancillary costs like storage, trialering etc, etc, this year I was north of 4,000 pr hour.

And I loved every minute of it. Then I think of all the hookers, booze, hookers, limos, and hookers I could have had and I am still happy I am a boater and have my loving honey! :D :D :D :D :D

Re: Dollar per hour of use

So, since I only made payments this year, never put a drop of gas in it, never put it in the water, didn't take out any insurance, and stored it in my driveway, how do I figure this out?? The total payments divided by 0 hours is still 0!!!

Waterfoul 12-06-2004 07:31 PM

Re: Dollar per hour of use

So let's figure out the Glastron, which I used a LOT this year.

$0 payment
$0 storage
Homowners covers it for insurance so I won't include it 'cause I pay it regardless
$0 slip fees
$45 license fees for three years... so $15 a year
and 36 gallons of gas for the entire season.... at we'll say $1.90 a gallon. So $68.40 total.

Add it up and divide by approximately 40 hours or so.... $2.84 per hour. We'll include gas in the truck.... say maybe 80 gallons towing it around at $1.90 a gallon. Add $152... divide.... carry the 1....divide by pi...... subtract the squre root of 45........ and whalla!!! $5.51 an hour. Gotta love the Glastron!!!!

Waterfoul 12-06-2004 07:32 PM

Re: Dollar per hour of use

And all this includes a 1200+ mile round trip to LOTO!!!!!

Re: Dollar per hour of use

Let's see, for 04':

New exhaust manifolds, custom made spacers, and risers
New Stainless Marine tips/removed silent thunder box
New Racorp fuel/water seperators
4 custom stainless couplers to mount above Racorps
2 new batteries
new winch and strap
all new LED trailer lighting plus complete "rewire" job

And have not started the engines yet. Maybe this, or next weekend.

I refuse to add this up. And if my wife see this there will also be a divorce attorney cost added to above.

No Im not going with the 525's. But your estimate on those are LOW !! more like 55k for the pair plus installation plus new drives plus mufflers plus.. get the idea..

The boat is at the Tierra Verrda Marina near my house in St Petes stored waiting to be re-powered. Ill be over your way in Feb for the boat show and the poker run to Islamorada

Re: Dollar per hour of use

I think it sounds better to figure it per mile.

For example one of the extreme fella's on here figures
$50,000 plus per season.

Average of 25 hours per season averaging 90 miles per hour.

So let's say 2,300 miles of poker runs.

$21.00 per mile :drink: :drink:
