Why doesn't OSO have a...

financial discussion board? I think it would be pretty cool if the financial masterminds on the board would share idea's relating to the stock market, futures, money making opps. etc. etc. Maybe share opinions about future opportunities in new business or maybe even "rumors heard on the street". I would think that with the number of board members on this site somebody certainly has the heads up on the inside track. Anybody on the board talk to Reggie (Fountain = publicly traded) ?
Maybe employers that are registered board members might even post job openings or career opportunities. Well it's just a suggestion...what do you think?

I agree with this. There are a lot of people on this board with a lot of very good info. Lots of successful people with knowledge to share. Me personally, I'm very interested in investing but don't really know where to start. Based on past threads on topics like this, I think it's a good thing, I hope OSO makes it happen.

shhhh, i got some stocks i want to dump and i was going to use the power of OSO to pump them up a bit.... but you caught me :D :evilb:

I still think it would be cool to have a place to post questions about financial/business stuff without digging through apache and name calling threads, although if some business went bad in there, those might be even worse threads.

I come to this site because the members here know boats.
And I trust(a good amount of) the info I get here.
I also like to hear your opinions, cuz many of us own very cool boats.

Stocks??? no thanks.

Here's some REAL good insider trading scoop.

If my @ss buys a stock, and you own it, then you need to sell it cause it's fixing to drop like a rock.

If my @ss sells a stock, then you need to buy it cause it's fixing to climb to the moon.

That's the honest gospel. If you follow those rules, you will soon own the universe...

Me Too!!!!! I single handedly brought down AOL and Worldcom...as well as a few others. :( :( I've pretty much decided to keep all of my $$$ in the S & P 500 Fund.

The Financial Forum is a good idea......but moderating it would have to be done very carefully and it probably would end up not being a good thing for the board. Too much potential controversy and "unlawful" posts. Just my .02

Re: Why doesn't OSO have a...

As far as "unlawful" discussions are concerned...I think "pump and dump" type of discussion is illegal if you are a board member or affiliated with the direct infrastructure of the business i.e. Reggie gets on here and tells us his stock is going to sky rocket and then it tanks. As far as the general public conversing about a certain stock ...I don't think thats illegal. There are hundreds of Finchial discussion board already in practice. i.e. www.financhialchat.com. My thought behind this discussion board is the fact OSO has a large number of members that are very successful. Maybe they don't touch the market. Maybe they made it big in realestate, Venture Capital etc. etc. This discussion board would be "well-Rounded" . No Politacal B.S. Just "helpful hints".

Sirius sattelite radio (SIRI).
I bought it three or four months ago at $2.08. I sold off some when it hit $8.75 a week ago & I'm still playing with a bunch (7.30 right now).

I am hearing some REALLY good info on "NTN" coming out with alot of cool interactive electronics.
I am planning on buying very soon. It's around $3. right now but with the electronics convention season coming up, I've been told it could be the next sirius

So, tell me about the problem with your lawnmower. I know LOTS of worthless stuff! :D :D

Until the financial message boards have sections dedicated to boats........ ;)

Anyways, isn't that what the bilge section is for?

Hey DJD I have control of a load of Sirrus also, that means I can't talk about it. I notice you wisely did not say anything either. <gg>

I used to trade about half a billion dollars a day. Trust me, talking about stocks or other REGULATED topics on this board is a huge mistake and should not be encouraged. The first cry baby will bring regulators over to check out this site and lead to an orgy fest of regulators crawling up all your ......... Lets keep the topic on boats etc. please, there are many other discussion boards for people to get into trouble discussing stocks. Keep them away from here, PERIOD. After more than twenty years in the biz with no regulatory issues, I'd like to keep it that way. If the feds know you frequent a website with stock tips, then your actions in the market are suspect. I'd hate to have to drop my visits to offshoreonly.

The next big thing???? Do a google search on Jim Rogers, read what he has to say in Business Week, last week. Then educate yourself on the actual ....... exchange websites.

BTW Shane very glad to see you are up and snowmobiling again!!! Take it a bit easy and study for the series 3 exam.

Well I guess we tried. :( Don't want to get anybody in trouble. I think it's fascinating to hear the "stories" behind the people. You know the guy that invented the 3M sticky note type of thing. Or the guy that bought 500K SIRI for $2 and sold for $8 :drink:
Oh by the way CBR - THAT IS SOME SERIOUS COIN!!!
Maybe we could forget the stock stuff and just stick to career opportunities?
