Pulling 12 to 13k not even a chance...maybe down the driveway! You can pull a ski boat or 24 baja. That truck can just about fend for itself and the ins. co. have all smartened up in the last 2 years with this stuff.

I've got an 03 2500 suburban 6.0L and 3.73. Chevy says it's rated at 7,600lbs. Rating goes to 9,600 with 4.10. I have hauled 12,000 lbs for local trips and it's ok, but 70 on the interstate is it unless you stay in the passing gear. Not sure about a 1/2 ton, but it's probably only a little less. (Huge difference in how much tongue weight it will carry!)

You will be able to tow 12K no problem. You will have to modify your boat trailer with another trailer attached to it to also haul around your 3 extra transmissions for your truck.
I tow a 29 Fountain with an 01 Denali and I am on my third tranny. Go diesel.

I know from expirience, not much more than a wave runner. The back suspension is WAY mushy pulling a trailer. If it starts to sway your screwed.

Fightclub....... i had to sell my beloved Suburban for the same reason. You won't even be close to being able to tow that much safely. I tried to talk myself into it for weeks, and it all came down to having something happen and the insurance company laughing at me.
Finally the wife said no new boat if you don't get a bigger truck. That's all i needed. 2500HD crew cab duramax came home with me. I can tell you, i've had 3 suburban's and loved them all, but none of them even will come close to the power and stability this thing has got. It's crazy how good the brakes are compared to the sub.
Just quit trying to convince yourself and doit. It only hurt watching it go.......

One last idea
Air bags and change the gears? Remeber it's lease not mine
My max tow would be Northern Michigan! Heck if I can swing the boat I want I could launch in Grand Haven and go by water to the north
All kidding aside would bags and gears work?
