Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
3/4 ton. I.E. 2500 or 250
Again congrats on the new rig H. |
Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
Go for the 15 HD... Much stronger drive line than the F150...
Trade that little blazer in to some dealer, far, far away..... Poor little truck! |

Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
Just what is the difference between the chevy 1500 and the 1500HD. I have noticed the 1500HD's have the same wheels as my 2500 suburban. How does the 1500HD compare to the 2500? (orHD?)

Russ C. i think it has the heavier axles and frame but not drivetrain? anybody? |
Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
the 1500HD has Tranny coolers, 6.0 engine heavier springs, I see it as a 2500 with a 3.73 instead of 4.10. I hope R.Addiction chimes in soon and give us the facts.
The Denali has an 8k tow rating all wheel drive no 4ws, that comes from the brochure. |

The Denali has an 8k tow rating all wheel drive no 4ws, that comes from the brochure. 04's are 4WS extended cab 10k tow.... 05's are crewcab, no 4WS, 8100 std tow, 9200 max tow, whatever that means..... tows my 30 spectre everywhere just fine and it whips around dually's at the ramp :evilb: |

Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
I like the looks of GM trucks more than Ford.
The 1500HD, with 6.0L/3.73 sounds great. I have a 2500HD Crew 6.0L/4.10. The gas mileage is terrible (13 MPG). I wouldn't want to use it as a daily driver. I think the 3.73 would help the MPG and still be good for towing. I had a 1500 Ext. Cab 5.3L/3.73. I got better MPG when towing than I get with the 2500 empty. I'm only towing 5-6K though. If you are driving the truck every day and only towing occasional short distance, you may get by with a 1500. My .02 |
Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
If the 1500HD is a 6.0/ 3.73 then why buy the regular 2500? I have a 2500 Suburban with the 6.0/ 3.73 which sounds like the same thing??? It's tow rating is low, but it does just fine up to 10,000#. Is the load capacity different (ex. tongue weight?)

Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
NOTICE THE DIFFERENT GVWR'S AND AXLE RATINGS....... they wouldn't make a 1500hd if it was just the same thing with a different axle ration when they already offer that axle ratio in the 2500hd.......
|
Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
Thanks, I Think the 1500HD will due for me and save at the pump.

Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
I have a 1500 HD. Heavier spring front and rear. 3.73 rear and tranny cooler. It has the 5.3 and runs well. I have towed my 33 Fountain on a triple axle aluminum Performance trailer. It tows OK, not great. It is a little over the suggested rating and in my opinion, at the practical limit for the truck.
I don't tow hundreds of miles, typically around 15-20 one way. For that it is fine. It may be overkill, but I change my tranny fluid every two years (approx. 20k miles). Mine is a 2000, and I love the truck. |

Re: F150 or GMC 1500HD?
I bought mine as a wreck and repaired it. You wouldn't know it today and best of all, I have waaay less into it than if I'd bought one perfect. I'll drive this thing into the ground.
