Those are yr round slips. Most of those boats are 35' and up. The marina uses bubblers and ice eaters to keep the water from freezing. Few more pics I took today.
1 pic is of Marina service boat sticking in air. Not a major loss. 3rd pic shows snow over 5' deep on the roof. Employees were starting to shovel more of it off and also had a salomander on top to melt the snow. Going to bring in a barge to start cutting the metal off this week and start the rebuild process.

Wow. You just don't see many boats left in the water here at all, no matter what size. We also don't have many covered slips at all. I'd certainly not keep my boat in the water all winter, even if it was a 35'+ long cruiser. I feel sorry for them, but at the same time, the covered slips I've seen, I'd not want my boat under it knowing the snow we get here in MI. I hope this only influences CRUISER insurance rates.

It is the 5th largest inland marina in the US with 812 slips. Acccording to thier website.
I'm more worried about my slip fee for next yr. :D


No cats, unless you consider one of the new 80' pontoon styled house boats. ;)

sightseeing boats.

WOW, That looks like a real mess. I hear warmer weather is coming which should help with recovery.

I lived in Indiana for nearly 25 years and would never, ever leave a boat in the water. I remember Winters when it was below zero for over a week, and had two foot plus snows. Bubbler's work, but not when the temp is that cold for that long. In my mind this type of loss was bound to happen. I hope everyones insurance is up to date.

I am sorry for the loss, it is tragic, especially if it is your boat. :( :(
