Not the same truck but I drove a 2500 Ram with the Hemi. That engine has some real power. Had no problem breaking the rear tires free from a stop. No experience with the F150s. I do know they can be had to tow up to 9000 lbs. But you need to order a special tow option to do that. The basic F150 is not able to tow that much. Just my input. Good luck and enjoy.

I've got an '04 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 that I use to tow my motorcycles, jet skis, and a car trailer. I looked at the Dodge, but the lack of rear seat room and narrow rear door openings were a big turnoff for me. I also wasn't real impressed with the quality of the interior.

The F-150 definitely isn't as fast as the Ram, but it's been a reliable, stable towing platform. Mine is rated to tow 9500LBs with the factory installed hitch and 3.73 rear end.

Just my $.02

Go with the Ford. I have a 2004 Lariat Super Crew and absolutely love it! I came from owning several Chevy's and my Ford is by far the best one yet. They have just released all of the power programmers and bolt on performance products for the truck. I would check out www.Ryno4wd.com for more info. Even with 22" wheels and a leveling kit for the front, I still get great torque and speed. The comfort is there as well. I am really pleased with how the truck looks with all of the modifications. You can really make one stand out in the crowd without doing a whole lot to it.

Don't buy one of those two new, buy a gently used diesel for less and get a lot more truck.

Don't skimp on the truck. We go over this week-in/week-out. You need to figure out your total towing weight... trailer, boat, fuel, motor, tools, people, coolers, beer, etc. Then pick your truck around what you want to tow. If its anywhere near 7Klbs, you have to buy at LEAST a 3/4 ton truck. Period. I know the F-150 is rated to tow 9K lbs. That's with a weight distributing hitch. You don't want to mess up and have your insurance company deny everything because you were ignorant.

Ya gotta buy based on tow rating and your personal preference. You can't buy something because 32 guys said they towed the Space Shuttle from Houston to Cape Canaveral with their Datsun.

Think about this, a Jeep Liberty can be reated to tow 5000 lbs. Would you want to tow 5000 lbs wiht a Liberty?

Your boat and trailer have to weight at least 7500# (guessing). A 1/2 ton might do it OK, but take it form me who went from a modified Expedition that towed great to an Excursion wiht a diesel towing 7500#, the lack of driver fatigue alone is worth having a heavier truck, and the diesel doesn't hurt one bit.
