Yup, im a boating god

I always thought that i was a decent boater, but now i am actually a boating god. Ive been operating boats for 12 years ( got my safety certificate when i was 9) but have been boating well before that. I just got my first High performace boat (36 nortech) a couple weeks ago though which makes my last pantera seems like a rubber duckey in comparison and my dads old scarab more like a fishing skiff. So i took Tres Martins class and finsihed up the 2 day session today. I can honestyl say that i learned more in these 2 days then the past 3 1/2 years of college, where I only spent half the time passed out, but the other half i made deans list. It was a great experience and extremely helpful. As i said, i always thought i was decent, but after taking this class i learned what would have taken years of running my boat all day every day, as well as stuff that i never would have figured out or known how to figure out or even know that i didnt know, if you know what i mean. I feel much more safer and comfortable now when running my boat. And it was awesome holding on for dear life as Tres drove the boat in biscayne bay showing me what it can do, thank god i got the extra tight bolsters.

of course now that i am a boating god, i too will be offering a course for $2,499 ($1 less then Tres). I will also be teaching everything Tres will, as well as much more important things like how to convince your gf that the boat will not handle correctly and it wil be in the interest of safety if she was topless at all times while on the boat.

I planned on taking this class, but I had to take the class early becasue my insurance company sucks a$$ and dropped me after only 3 weeks without notice after paying for half a years premium. Tres was extremely helpful. I never bought a boat from him, or met him or had any dealigns of any kind with his company, yet he went out of his way to help me out. THis is very rare today, especially in the boating industry in south florida. I cant thank him enough.

since my insurance company sucks they dropped me until i took the course soi needed to take it asap. Tres helped me out tremedously by giveing me a one on one session right away. like i sais, i cant thank him enough for this.
We used my nortech which was a great benefit becasue now i know what it can do, even though i dont think i have the balls to turn it that tight, its good to know it can. by next week i shoudl know how much my insurance was dropped.

as far as cruiser classes, i didnt know that you need any training to go that slow???
jsut hire a captain, i have been planing to get my capt liscense for a while now, eventually i get the time needed (200 days in 2 years at 4 hrs per day driving with a certified captain signing off on it). When i get that ill take the coast guard course and test, then you can (legally) hire me.

Re: Yup, im a boating god

I called on him today to make sure he got through the weekend OK. He was a good student and he is quite sharp. Just remember to be safe and plan ahead , being aware and apply everything you learned to your everyday boating. He learned all about Vees and Cats, Do and donts, and he is very aware of how to spot a potential problem.

Hey Tres,

I remember reading about your new school and how it was geared towards persons driving boats that did over 100 mph. Do you also teach how to drive a boat that does 70-80 mph?

If so, I may call on you in a couple years. Not for insurance purposes, but to learn to race a boat.
