Randy Johnson is not only OLD - but UGLY.
And he can't pitch. He is openly gay. He drives a H2 for chrissakes. Doesn't even OWN a boat ( that I know of ). . . wears pantyhose under his baseball uniform. He owns partial interest in a bimini-top company. He personally injected "controlled substances" into Jason Giambi's ass. I guess if you cant win a championship with a 180 million dollar payroll you've just got to find a way to spend more........ Will 200 win a championship? 220? How about injecting the team with Barry Bonds's steriod cocktail, oops, I mean vitamin supplement, or whatever he didn't realize was in those injections? I hate when somebody gives you steroids for five years on accident, thats the worst......

I guess Boston's payroll is chump change!? And Mets, Dodgers, etc etc etc. Money doesn't buy championships (it may help the managers and coaches choices a little :D ) but doesn't gaurantee a title ... just ask the NY Knicks or NY Rangers who have had highest payroll in league and ????????? :confused: Rangers haven't even made the playoffs in .. I can't even remember how long. Who actually misses the NHL anyway :eek: :eek: :p

Change the rules ..... George wants to win ... gotta give him that! Can't say that about a lot of other owners looking to fill their own pockets at YOURS, the fans, expense ;) Enjoy your next $100 ticket game, watching a team, that hasn't given their team a fighting chance. At least with the Yankees you get your $100 worth every game .. steroids and all!! LOL

I dont hate the Yankees, any real fan of baseball has to respect their life long record and the fact the George wants to win at any cost. Do I think its fair? Maybe not, the smaller market teams just cant generate the revenue you guys can. Why do you think we traded Johnson to you? We cant afford to pay him 16.5 million dollars,thats why we traded Kurt, couldn't afford to pay him either. You dont think they left here because we were looking for something better do you? There are probably alot of owners that would have a 220 million dollar payroll if they could. Should there be revenue sharing like the NFL? You bet your ass. Will Goerge ever allow it? Not if he's still above ground.

The problem with the salery "cap" in baseball is that if you just so happen to "go over" it then you just pay the fine. That is all that NY, Boston, and many other teams do. Baseball is loosing its apeal due to the fact that NO player that I know of turns down a higher salery to stay with a team. They just fallow the money.... Like the extra 1 million will make them happier. The salleries have gotten out of hand and if they are not carefull they will be looking a lot like that other sport we used to watch...... I think it was called the NHL????

I agree, the NFL broke the union in 87 and brought in the profit sharring for the smaller markets. Until some of those teams have a chance to compete, baseball will slowly dwindle away its fan base. The only teams that will have a loyal following are teams like the Yankee's and Red Sox etc..
Thats why smaller market teams like the Colts, Packers, Chiefs, Broncos on and on and on have such loyal fans. They have a legitimant shot at signing good players and being competitive. If the GM can make good deals he knows they have enough money to pay the players salary as long as it fits under the cap.
Its bad for teams like the Cardinals because they will get there money whether or not they put a good package on the field and the Bidwell's could care less about their fans. They get their money no matter what.

i understand what you guys are saying with the fan base. what some of you guys dont understand is and its a plain as day.. if you look at the teams that were great, not for a year or two but great for years and years. its not their payroll its the farm system. core players. front office, scouts, it all plays a major roll in how a team does. the Yankees are not great cause they have money, its cause of the rep they have built with theior core players they have signed over the years. if you put into perspective when free agency broke the back of the game is was not teams like the yankees that prevailed. do we forget how happy all of you were during the 80s. if was a very tough time as a yankee fan, what fans see in the bigs is only the end of a deal that affects a bunch of lives and careers. i know i was one of those lives. money does not make a team or persons better it only appears that way. think about it how many rich dudes suck, and appear that they are gentleman. its much deeper than you guys think, its a shame we only think its money why teams are great, and it has little to do with good people.

Just like a typical Yankee Hater..... When the new collective bargaining agreement was voted in, the votes were 29 to 1... the 1 being the Yankees.
So now we have the Yankees PAYING 86 million to MLB and the other poor teams and everyone still crabs about it.... do some research for God's sake.... typical Sox fans.... dumb and dumber. Cry me a dam river... the spending over the last 4 years has gotten the Yanks nothing! and you still crab.... Just shut up already!
The Sox have been pissing and moaning about the Yanks spending and THEY VOTED YES for the current agreement.... what a joke. The Sox win it all last year despite under spending the Yanks and still crabbing! You dont buy championships. You go out and play for them and it doesnt matter how much you get paid.
The bottom line is that whether you get paid 10 million a year or 100,000.... you still need to go out and play... hit the ball... throw a pitch.... etc etc.... how much you get paid doesnt matter... you still need to play. :mad:

Why doesnt anyone ***** about Billy Beane haording all the young talent... that organization is like a farm system for MLB. And Billy Beane has won crap!!!!!!!!! He is a joke. Hasnt won anything and he gets all sorts of respect. Obviously his way doesnt work. The money doesnt matter.... get over it. The Yankees are the best team ever assembled. Live with it. I am not sold on Pavano or Jaret Wright. I am sold on this being one heck of a team. The stuff Giambi was taking doesnt make you a better player. He should be fine this year... plus now we have Tino for insurance :D
