Re: Gladiator with diesels - speed?
A Yanmar 440 and a Yanmar 500 are totally different engines. A 6LY2A-STP 440hp. is a 5.8 liter straight-6 block which is around 1200 lb. whereas the 6CXM-GTE2 is a 7.4 liter straight-6 which is over 1800 lb. and is some 10 inches longer than the 6LY2. In other words, a 500hp. will not fit and even if it did, the combined weight of motors and ASD8s or #6s would most probably sink a Gladiator... Maybe 440s which will soon become 480s when they go electronic...

Super Termoli :
You are right , but the 440 (6LY2A-STP) will be available at 500hp and will be on display at the Miami Boat Show. |
Re: Gladiator with diesels - speed?
The new Yanmar "480" as they are calling it is suppose to be the same engine with different head and electronics.
The ASD8 is only #285 lbs. The Bravo on a box is heavier. |

In my opinion it will be a hit. I know of a guy in Norway that runs 4 x 500 (new version) in his Northech 50 Cat. Great milage. Cheeeers, TG |

del sol as of a couple of weeks ago the boat was still available. There was a interested party, but I'm told that they walked when the boat couldn't be tested due to a broken prop shaft. The shaft has been fixed, but the prop hasn't been replaced yet. The drives were Buzzi's. The boat is located at Dollar Offshore. I don't know the price.

Those are France Helice drives and propellers on the Sonic.
