600SCii in powerboat $$$$
2 things,
first on the supercharger the "600scii" has two letter "i's" just curious what the second one stands for???
and second, they list the price at $$64,000 (or something close) and say it is 5 grand more than the 575Sci was. is that misprint should it be $44,000. I thought the 575 was like $38,000 or so??? If that is the real price who would buy that engine at that cost?? You could get some custom built big horse motors for the same or less money. my .02

Way, Way too much money....Even for the 575. Parts & assembly cost nowhere near that. Realize that a warranty is included...but for the money I would rather outsource to build big NA engines instead with tons more power. My 2 cents...

Why not buy the 525 and then turn around after the warranty and add a Whipple and make over 700HP and still have money left over. That motor is a joke if you ask me.

Glad I'm not the only one. You can get a 750 NA EFI from TMP for $32,000. So you could put in twin 750's with no superchargers for the same price as a single 600Sci. Um, I'll take the 600 SCi. Yeah right. The TMP comes with a 1 year warranty as well so there goes that argument. Closed Cooling can be added so theres go that argument. Big Mistake by Merc if that price is accurate!!

Just a thought,
Maybe Merc isn't really interested in selling that motor to the general public, but instead to the boat builders, something of the caliber of Baja, Formula... (I'm not comparing those two boat makers, but instead the way they market and sell there boats). I'm sure they are going to sell the motor ALOT cheaper to a builder.
Then the guy at the boat show is looking at a boat with a pair of those under the hatch thinking there's $128,000 in motors alone on this boat, this would allow a dealer to use this in a sales pitch of "what a great deal he's giving you".
