Lee,
Thanks for the info! "Lil Rhino" ended up sold and raced in NJ by a neighbor of mine.

Re: back in the dayss

Okay, I think I detect some interest in real offshore racing again.....you know the kind where you are in the middle of the race and you look all around you and can see nothing but ocean for 360 degrees.

An old friend contacted me and said that there might be an announcement of a real ocean race at the Miami Boat show. That is great.....however, do we have any interest in doing more than that one race?

How about Ft Myers to Dry tortugas to Key West?

or................filll in the blank

"fill in the blank"

Miami to Bimini and bsck or

Re: back in the dayss

Hey Bodyshot nice picture of Paul Lesnewski looking up at the camera. Obviously that shot was when he was on Stan Pike's boat Inferno.....Paul was my crew chief and throttleman when we moved into open class...he throttled the boat in California when we won the Bushmills.

Those shots of the old speedmasters used in Sports class really bring back the memories....those were very high tech back then......looks like you have done a great job in restoring that very good boat.

thanks for the compliment...not mine though..raced with Greg DiRenzo a couple times...he since sold her to member "818181"...he has her in Connecticut.

Thanks for the pics of the little Rhino in post #144. My buddy and myself own a 79' 29mirage - Pete Smith's old pleasure version of the Wolverine. Playing with it in the summers and restoring it during the winters.

Post #157 Jerry Jacoby and Wayne Vickers as throttleman in Brut.

Wayne was one of the pros in the game and had been around many years, mainly with Joel Halpern in Beep Beep during the years he was national champion.

Re: back in the dayss

Post # 143 and 144 shows some of the "pleasure boaters" of that era in Miami in the background.

You will notice a pale green 28 SS Cigarette and a red Magnum 35 and also a 36 foot Performer which was Bill Elswick's company. That maroon boat was the show boat that year for Performer at the Miami Boat Show. It had triple engines with TRS drives.

The dry pits were located on the bridge leading over to the island right in front of the Four Ambassadors Hotel. As you can see, a lot of money was put into the tow rigs back in those days.....for the real big show offs they put a cap on the back of the pickup's.

I think that the 40 Cigarette..."Really Ridiculous" was formerly owned by Diamond Don, himself quite a character, who ended up deceased because of an indiscretion of some sort.

I post 147, there is a 4 Mercury engine Magnum on the Bridge-I think the boat was called "Honey Bear", can anyone confirm this?
