Re: Prayers for Doug Wright

Sad to hear this for both Doug as well as Dale. This project has been several years in the making so hopefully a few months at the end will not ruin what should be a very good boat.

The boats were looking so good, too, from the other thread.

Sorry to hear, that really sucks.

Last year the shop i was working in has a fire also, but luckily it was outside by the garbage and nothing important was lost and it was at night so very few people were there so no one was hurt. Scary to see the damage though.
that 38 looks AWESOME, cant wait to see a poker run version!

That's just not right. Having been a volunteer firefighter for 10 years, you never get used to the devastation. Best of luck in the future.

Dale and I started this project at the end of August and we'll be back on track in no time. We still have dash, liner, & deck molds, plus stringer & bulkhead templates. We'll keep you posted with the progress!

Doug,
Sorry to hear of your loss.

Been in that situation twice but have been fortunate that with quick reaction saved the place both times.

Once a resin gun sprung a leak dripping MEK in a 5 gal resin bucket. Self ignited next to a 55 gallon drum of resin. I grabbed the bucket and ran outside with it where it actually burned for a few hours.

Second time I was alone working at 3 in the morning. I went to use a drill not realizing a pail of acetone was left without a lid on it which had been a good 20 feet away. The fumes must have been going just in the right direction at the right time and ignited. Fortunately it was extremely hot that night and I wasn't wearing a shirt. I grabbed that pail and ran out the door with it but tripped on something on the way out splashing the flaming acetone on my arms. Thank God that stuff burns off fast. Only a small scar left from it. Had I had a shirt on, I think it would have been alot worse.
I was only 21 years old at the time. Since then, Safety has become a big priority.
Good luck with the rebuild of your shop.
Glad to hear no one was hurt!
