Best Headsets

Who do you think makes the best headsets? What makes them better than others? I am doing some research so I can make something happen for spring.

I've seen the intercom and headset systems for air planes, they appear to be identical and cost half as much

I haven't seen one in person but I think the control box that tiger and all the other marine intercom systems use are the avionics units with a different face plate. I haven't been able to confirm it yet though.

Thats sad when aircraft stiff is cheaper than marine stuff.

Yup, just bought a 6 place flightcom stereo intercom, with stereo input for music for under $200. Trying out out some of the cheaper noise cancellation headsets but will probably buy a couple of Bose headsets. My father-in-law has them in his small plane and they are excellent.
Watch Ebay, there are some great deals on avionics, just be careful since not all the intercoms are stereo.

Still waiting to hear those motors run.

I bought the Flightcom 403 on ebay for $127, everything comes into a 25 pin connector so I can pull the unit from the boat when I don't need it. I ordered an Avcomm child's headset for my son and I'm looking at the Featherlight headsets, will probably buy 5 of them and get myself the Bose headset.

Softcomm also makes a nice unit.

I have used these and the throat mic is really nice. There is not external noise like wind or engine noise, just voices. I have used other setups where you are fighting the wind to talk.

I have the Revolution Marine headsets with throat mics too. They are great. The mics are always hot, no voice switching, no missing words, no wind noise, but no stereo in headset, just mono and I have all my alarms wire into the system.

Those throat mics are pretty good, have you used them? Which ones do you think are better?
Thanks Hunter

Revolution Marine's throat mic set up is by far the best I've used. 110 MPH open cockpit and NO WIND NOISE.

Thanks for the input about the intercoms. I'll check out the throat intercoms.
