Dry sump oil pumps
 

I am looking to make my ne engines dry sump. I was told to go with 4 stage pumps. I found a great deal on 6 stage pumps. Does anyone know if I can use these and just cap 2 of the ports? Should I just keep looking for 4 stage. Thank you!

I was told, more power, larger oil capacity so the oil stays cooler and cleaner. It seems like all the best, high dollar engine builders (Cobra, Sterling, Mer etc) go dry sump. Should I not go dry sump?

They are 572's with 1,050 HP.

I would call Stefs oil pans in Jersey and use their Offshore pan with the kickout.They have the pumps and pickups too.They work just fine in what your doing.Dry sump is expensive,and you have to change all the brackets on the front of the motor to accomodate the dry sump pump.If you were building an all out race motor i would consider dry sump.You could go wet external oiling too.

A 4 or 5 stage would work good.When you go to the 5 1/2 to 6 stage it scavenges too much oil away from the pistons,pins, and the cylinder walls due to the vacuum these pumps create.
