I saw some of the footage on AOL. Its not a huge ship, but big enough to have 4 engines, and three were damaged by the rough seas. The ship was towed/limped into Hawaii for repairs. The footage showed the passengers being slid around in the main deck 'ballroom', and furniture following behind them. It was one of those 'Semester at Sea' college excursions college students. As you can imagine, it destoyed the library, and most of the computer equipment on board.

semester at sea isn't for rich kids.... I went on a semester at sea "cruise" and it is nothing like what you think of about being on a cruise..... unless your idea of a cruise is getting up at 4:00am scrubbing the decks and cooking meals for others.... Semesters at sea the whold ship works, and goes to school. There aren't a lot of people onboard ie... small crew.... which means you have major chores.

I heard it was called Semester at Semen due to the "activities" of college kids on board. TS, your experience was clearly different than the one sponsored by the Univ. of Pittsburgh. Everyone that I knew that went on that program was indeed loaded and probably did little to no work, be it chores or academics. But for $20k for the semester, what do you expect?

I hear they have lots of those kind of waves in Key West. Not that there is anything wrong those waves, of course.
