These motors don't have SQUAT to do with old turbos. They are ground-up purpose-built mini turbines. Just like the big boys, only smaller.

(with afterburner! 24 pounds of thrust)

Not toys. Toys don't cost this much...

if anybodys in this area we have one of the biggest RC shows in the world here toledo. there is always some wild planes on disply there. a few years ago there was a model of the concord that had to be about fifteen feet long. if you are into RC stuff the show is worth the trip. great vid clip Nort, love the background music (like theres any other choice ) heres a link to the weak signals show

Awesome!

I used to hang out at some airfields in college where these guys would bring out their toy planes($10,000-$50,000).....I've seen F-15's, F-16's, F-4's, F-18's and many more.

The coolest one I saw was a 747 with 4 microturbines like the ones above. It had a wingspan of like 15 feet and it looked and sounded amazingly like the real thing.

Very cool.

TopDJ mentioned a B-52 large-scale model the he saw. I watched a video available on the net somewhere (I might have a link to it) of a large-scale B-52 that went out of control and crashed, destroying it completely.

The second link has a post accessing the videos of this beautiful model Buff in flight and going down.

The motors we have use centrifugal turbo impellers and turbines (rotating parts, not the housings) to keep manufacturing costs in line. Everything else is custom. We cut one open to make a cut-away display model, I can probably find a pic on Monday. I'll have to ask who the mfg is, but they are made for the BVM jets models.

Wow! I bet those turbines would make a cool RC Jet Car.
