Boating in South Padre ?????

Wondering if anyone here on the board has any experience boating out of South Padre Island in TX. I've got a friend with a condo down there who I'm going to visit and I wonder if it's worth dragging the boat down. It would really suck getting there and finding out there isn't any good launches, marinas that could handle it or even anywhere to go for that matter (40' boat). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's beautiful down there! It's as close to clear, blue water as we get on the Texas coast. There is at least one big marina with drystack on the south end of the island. Call the chamber of commerce. They can help. Have fun!

bglz42,
Thanks...I did call them and they said their forklift is only good to 33' max.
