Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Just drove one yesterday.
Limited 6.0 L Diesel 4x4 Loaded with all options inc. DVD Sticker = $53,100 Quoted = $45,900 No trade Is this a good deal?... it looks to be about $1,100 below invoice. Thanks! |
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Paid $35,500 back in 2000 for a new V10 4x4 limited. No dvd player. Sticker was $42,600. Been a great truck has 130,000 miles on it now haven't had any problems with the Engine or trans. 80% of that was towing. Great trucks!
Seems like a good deal. If it's 1,100 under invoice. |
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Mash, thats pretty good, keep in mind the pwer stroke is a 4-6k option, that more than likely is where you will see the difference. I'm a chevy guy but have always loved the excursions and the F350. hit the net, same with boats, just compare around, and when your almost ready, just ask them if thats the best they can do, never hurts nad your not insulting them either.

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Sounds fair to me, and you can always tell him that "Mr. Probert" will be doing the negotiating...:D :D

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
That is a preety good price, I still think that there is about 1-2k to move, be firm go get the sales manager a agree to buy right now for 44K , , A friend of mine just bought one out of Georgia, all black with all the goodies for that.
Good luck |
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
It all depends on the options on whether you will get it for 44k, unless the dealer wants to go into the 3% money that they get at the end of the year. Remember a servicing dealer that you can have a relationship is worth something also, price isnt everything these days. Matt Raymond on the board owns a Ford Dealership, maybe he can help you out. Good luck. Jeff

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Get a 100,000 mile warranty. Diesels are expensive to repair.
|
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
isn't the PSD already 5 year/100k from the factory?

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
I got a price off the net for about 1800$ less that what was quoted. I think I can get it at that, at least. It just sucks that I have to have an SUV and GM isnt putting out the Duramax Suburban until 07 at the earliest now
I am going to get this I think, then if and when I get a bigger boat I will be ready :D Does anyone have the 6 litre Diesel? Sounds like it is a great motor. It pushed that Excursion along great. I will be putting a 2 inch lift and 33's on it with some 18 to 20" rims, a center brush bar etc etc... |

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Sorry I missed this thread... I have been snow skiiing in Vermont all weekend. Jeff, thanks for the referral. Masher44, that does seem like a good price. What color are you looking for? I have a white/ tan, mineral grey limited and solid black that I drove for a demo. I will give you a great deal on any of them if you are interested. Call me tomarrow. 910-330-1911
Thanks, Mat |

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
GM is going to put a diesel in the 'Burban?? That is good news if they do. The news of '05 being the last year for the Excursion scared me a little. I wanted to wait a few years but didn't want to miss put on the Diesel SUV, so I was considering an Excursion later this year. So will I have other options in a few years??
|
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
I dunno why GM still has not put the duramax in the suburban. It sure seems like they would sell a bunch of them.
|
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
I have a 2004 Excursion Limited 4x4 w/6.0L Powerstoke Diesel and the new (for 2004) 5 speed TorqShift automatic transmission and it is great. GM's Suburban/Yukon XL 2500 series can't even compare. My wife drives the thing more than I do. If you want the ultimate diesel powered SUV on the planet the choice is clear, Ford Excursion.

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
I second that!!!!! :drink:
|
Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
Did Ford put all the good stuff from the 05 pickups on the Excursion?
I was told the Suburban was going to be redesigned in 06 and it was going to have the diesel. I don't want to wait until 07 for it. If I had to wait I would get the Ford ordered. |

Dont know, this will be my first Ford ever. The dash is very plain and the ride is very truck like. The Suburban I heard will not be out until 2007 at the earliest if at all. There has been talk of scrapping it totally. It is being redesigned for 2006 but no Duramax. The pic I saw of the 2006 Tahoe looked alot like the Toyota Tundra  Who knows with my luck it will come out next week. The new Excursion drove good but more truck like than the Suburban and I have eaten trannys with my Denali and getting sick of it. I will be towing for a while before we build on the lake down here so it is time for a pull vehicle. The rating is 11K on the Ford and only 8000 on the Denali.... and they must have towed only on flat surfaces to get that rating. It struggles pretty good with my boat... especially on the hills. I know GLH tows like 47,000 pounds :D with his so the Ford must be good. The Denali has been a GREAT truck but the tow part coupled with more ground clearance has me just about sold on the Ford. I have them down to 45,200 on it plus I have a grand more if I use Ford Credit. so 44,200 at the worst right now... Oh yeah.. plus the wheels, tires, brush bar, light bar and BADA$$ thumpin system.. so I will be at 60K no matter what :D Then the Denali will be my third vehicle... actually fourth after the boat... anyone need a slightly used Denali? It comes with the optional zipper on the tranny housing :D |

Re: Tow Vehicle - 2005 Excursion
And yes I have heard differently but my dealer said it was the last year for the Excursion, 2005. He said they only sell substantial amounts of them in the horse country of KY, CA, CO, and TX. Not enough to mass produce them.
