Is anyone else impressed by a full profile 41' Vee doing 90mph with twin HP500's?

If we're looking to find out which V bottom design is truly the fastest, then no manufacturers are ever going to fess up to the real information. Doing some serious research on your own could give you a good idea, but these record runs don't prove a thing about who has the best design.

Find out the actual weight of each hull, length of running surface, fuel weight for test speed, and then test each of them side by side with the same HP in the same variety of water conditions. Then tell me who has the fastest bottom design for each water condition, because I doubt that they would all perform the same in all water conditions.

I seriously doubt that any one manufacturer has a V hull design that is really that much more dominant than anyone else when you break down the numbers. People like to talk about Fountain's offshore wins as proof of a superior hull. Well, yeah they make a nice hull, but offshore wins might also be proof of having known how to play the politics of offshore racing for quite a while now.

Don't get be wrong, I've toured the Fountain factory twice now and still get all gooey when I think about my first ride on a Fountain. But all this speed garbage involves an awful lot of numbers that can easily be spun in a manufacturers favor.

DPT you're starting to sound like an old fart.... "Stop all the speed???"

There has been OL Race boats. How can anyone forget "Wild Child" w/ Dave & Marcus

And this boat here that was racing the 2004 season, TKO Obsession:

Yeah, sure don't want eye witnesses if the attemp didn't rsult in good numbers.

Now we got 3 versions, other 2 being a broken motor and other being too much trash in the water. We could go for 5 and ask OL directly.

Dang and in less than a week we got a multiply choice answer.

If I put a pair of 2,000hp RCIs on a brick it will probably break 200mph. Now, give Fountain, Profile, Donzi, Cig and OL stock 1,000hp Sterlings and let them race their 41s and 42s from Miami to New York in April, winner takes all. Each team puts up $25,000. My money is on Reggie.

Wait a minute here.... $25,000? It should be $250,000! Winner takes all. They can afford it.
