Thanks Masher I thought they were going to stop making Excursions??? I honestly have never even looked at one I'll have to check one out next time I'm by a Ford dealer. What is the difference in length?

I have owned 3 Suburbans sized vehicles and have to say that the extra room in the Ex made a huge difference alone!!!! I owned both the Denali XL and the Ex at the same time and the Ex made the Denali feel tiny.... no more back pain in the Ex and drove it 30 hours over 2 days a few weeks ago and NO back pain or cramps etc.... while the Denali murdered me in two hours...

Just letting you know because you are a larger sized human
Plus TWICE the gas mileage in the Ex....
Masher: Twice the mileage??? My 8.1 liter Avalanche gets 13 mpg highway, 9-10 towing.

I also find the seats in the GM's much better than the Fords.

But, you are correct in the diesel GMT 900's will not be out before 2008.

The Excursion is no longer being produced.

Well almost twice as good as my Denali XL while towing. 16.6 with the Ex and 8 or 9 with the 6000 motor.
After a while I will put the chip in the Ex for mileage increases... I am only towing about 5500lbs...

It is personal taste with the seats but I am 6'3 and the Ex just has SO much more room..... again personal taste and Bub is like 9 foot tall so he would appreciate it....

The Duramax Burb is not going to happen in any year.

I have always been a GM guy and bought an X a few months ago. The fit and finish is not what a GM is however Im liking it more and more.
The seats are definitely more comfortable in the X than in my Z71 and it has tons of room.

Im waiting a few more months and will then do an exhaust and a chip.......that should make this diesel run

I think it is like 18 inches in length larger.... I didnt know how much I would love it until I owned it... have had 6 GMCs and now with the X it is a whole new world... BIG TIME!

You can easily find an 05 right now... it is the last year!

I just drove mine 30 hours and felt GREAT!!! It is the same as a F250 with a cargo area and I LOVE the ride now....

Like Tantrum said... it has a "truck" feel to it but the 05s are really nice riders....

X is 226.4" long.
Ford Crew cab is 245.6"
SUburban is 219.3"
Chevy crew cab is 237.3"

My garage is only 235" so the X will fit. I was going to get a Chevy crew cab, but came up a little short I even considered taking the rear bumper off and installing a roll pan, but the hitch is still in the way.
