Lonseal/Pirelli Flooring?

3 Attachment(s)
after doing a bunch of searches on the subject it seams Lonseal is the most popular way to go , however there is a mixed review on how easy it is to keep this stuff looking clean.

is it a particular pattern that is hard to keep clean or just the nature of the stuff?

what pattern does everyone have and whats your opinion of it?

heres some pics of different patterns im thinking of using to replace the grey coin i have now.

1=LONPLATE (tough looking stuff but kinka extreme for cockpit)

2=LONDECK COIN

3=LONCOIN II (looks the same as LONDECK COIN?)

I have either # 4 or #5 I love it. It is a little work to keep clean but not at all the hassle of carpet.

Also water does not affect it at all and we swim a lot off our boat.

I installed LoncoinII in my Nordic and it was easy to keep clean. A sponge or soft brush to scrub, a clean towel to dry and that's it. I'm not sure where you get mixed reviews but I highly recommend it.

only a few post said it was a beoch to clean but the majority said they loved it. thats why im wondering if it has to do with the pattern they have.

I have Pirelli in my Active Thunder, I am thinking about having a snap in carpet made. Pirelli is not as easy to keep clean as everyone thinks; when its dirty, its DIRTY. I scrub the floor every few weeks, I like my boats to look brand new. Pirelli doesn't absorb as well as carpet in the rough.

I have Lonseal in my cockpit it looks great but it"s tough to keep clean. I have raised white coin.

I put it in my cig and think it looks great but a pain in
the but to keep clean my opionion. I am adding snap in.

We use the Lonseal Loncoin II in our 32' Cat and our 28' Vee models it's great stuff!

i havent got that far yet. from my searches here on OSO it has been posted that you have to go thru a dealer and its probably a mail order situation unless theres a local dealer.
i should know more sometime today and ill post when i find out.

Re: Lonseal/Pirelli Flooring?

Steve-

I installed Londeck Wave in Speed Racer. Londeck Wave is the exterior version of Lonwave Mirage. It is supposed to be UV & stain resistant. Some of the older Lonwave flooring tends to yellow a little over the years of SoFl sun & salt. As far as cleaning it, a vacuum will get most of the debris out of the pattern. Soap and water and a scrub brush will be all you will need for anything else.

The key to installation is to use their 2 part expoxy adhesive and make sure the floor is extremely clean and the Lonseal is warm. It us much more pliable and easier to cut when it is warm. A hair dryer will help heat the smaller areas you need to cut.

FYI, the roll comes in a 6' width. The Lonwave or Londeck Wave pattern runs the length of the roll, rather than side to side. In order you get the proper direction of the pattern, you will need to lay the flooring with the 6' width from front to back rather than from side to side. If your cockpit is longer than 6' from front to back, then you will need to place the seam under the rear seat.

PM me if you have any other questions about it.

Chad

I put the #4 in my Nordic. Way better than carpet. It takes a little effort to keep clean, but when it is, it looks great. Find someone in your area that carries commecial flooring and go from there. Its not cheap. Also be sure to use Lonseals two part epoxy.

Re: Lonseal/Pirelli Flooring?

thanks for all the info guys.
im going with the LONCOIN II even though its for indoor use it should hold up fine since the boat is covered most of the time. it should be the easyest to keep clean also.

fyi , from lonseal , if the word "deck" is in the name it is designed for outdoor use.

$60.00/yd....wow!!!! dealer price on the londeck wave as of 2/04 was $37.36 /yd.

Sean H 02-25-2005 09:17 AM

Re: Lonseal/Pirelli Flooring?

60/yard ? that seems kinda high... is that measured like carpet (sq yard) or like fabric (running yard)? how many lineal feet did you get for 350? i guess it is 6' wide right?

Re: Lonseal/Pirelli Flooring?

I had #4 in my 32 AT and dont ever want it again, it hurts your feet after you stand on it for more than 1/2 hour and I thought it was hard to keep clean. The grooves dont let you wipe it down with a cloth, you need a brush. I now have something similar to #2 & #3, and enjoy it much more.

I'm curious about how pliable this Lonseal stuff is. I have two slightly raised area just under my seats. Do you think it will form like the carpet does?

My other problem is, I have a storage hatch that is in the middle of the floor. I'm not certain how I could make this stuff work there. It's a little pricey to just try to find out if it'll work.

Or could I have a custom white hatch built?

Any ideas???

I doubt it, it would work on one angle like caveman did it, but the corners of your raised areas would give you trouble.

I had the same issue, just remove the hatch, roll out the floor and glue down, use a Roto Zip to rout out the hole, and use the routed piece to glue to your hatch cover. The frame of the hatch cover will cover the edges of the piece.

I want to install Lonwave in the cabin of my 38 Donzi ZR. Please...can anyone help me find an installer on the west coast of Florida? Thanks!

Nickotine 06-01-2015 05:17 PM

Looks like I'm a little behind this flooring scene lol but I just spoke with Bill Larson who's a rep for Lonseal in Newport, RI and he was great to talk with if anyone else is looking to re-floor their cockpit. I've read nothing but positive feedback about maintenance and durability.
