We rented a 1.4 million dollar house there 2 years ago for 2800$ for a wk including the 2 bedroom airconditioned guest house down at the water, had a nice dock too and a tram to get you from main house down to water. It RULED!!! pier 57 marina was just a few miles down the river,in a week of boating every day we never did see all of the different areas. There are coves and islands you can park on plus you can cut down the tom bigabee water way. Only saw about 50 performance boats all wk,most were pier 57 testing them, alot of 77 ft houseboats and bass boats. Beautifull bluffs, cliffs and scenery, you won't be sorry, just do it!! Smitty

I grew up on Pickwick Lake and it is one of my all time favorite boating places. The scenery is unbelievable and there are alot of performance boats on the lake. The Tom Bigbee Waterway will take you all the way to the coast. You will definitely have a great time. Be sure to spend some time at the "Waterfalls" as it is where everyone goes to party. Good luck and have fun. Let me know if you have any questions that you might have.

we are looking to try to head down there the for the week of may 20, the weather should be warm right? is there somewhere on the net or elsewhere that i can get general info about the area?

smitty where do i find a house like you had that sounds perfect.

we are looking to escape the great white north early.

is the water clean? is that time a good time to be boating down there? we went to cumberland last year at that time and the run off was horrible.

Up by the dam, is the home of Pier 57 Marine, water tested a couple of Fountains on that lake. The senery is beautiful, never boated on a lake, or dammed river, with rock cliffs coming straight up out of the water. The water looked to be clean and deep. I hear they have some very large catfish in that lake also.

My sister found it doing a search for lake pickwick rentals,i'll call her and find out who to call. There was several homes for rent on the water from the 2k-4k per wk range, you might even be lucky because may might be off season even. I'll post or pm you in day or two to give you details as soon as i know them,Smitty
