You gotta be ****tin' me! $200K for motors and drives? Wouldn't take much to get a whole late model boat *and* motors for that kind of cash!

Merc's prices are SKY HIGH. I wish someone out there could be competitive with them and put them in their place.

Hell for 200K I'd buy a nice set of Pfaff 1000's that just happen to be wrapped in a certain 1999 Top Gun with a flame paint job!

[QUOTE]Merc's prices are SKY HIGH. I wish someone out there could be competitive with them and put them in their place. So, why not get a bunch of us "nitwits" together and start building motor and drive packages?
Konrad has come out with a drive unit that is getting RAVE reviews, just couple a decent motor package infront of it, and sell to the boat makers.
Or, what about using Arneson drives?

I know a little about wrenching on engines, mainly grunt work, but I'd be up for a project like this.
If I had the capital, I might try it myself, but I don't. Collectively as a group, maybe some of us could invest some time and money into this.
We already know we have the knowledge from the group on this board.
A motor/drive package made for the performance market that can be bought off the shelf, and doesn't have the "compromises" to use the same package in a cabin cruiser..

Maybe just a dream, but...

I'm IN!
any Takers?

Go to TMP's Site, after seeing the way they handle themselves on the board I like their professionalism. If people like Nortech and cig use them. that says alot. The easiest way to send a message to Merc is to not buy them. When it comes time to freshen up the 500's in the tiger, they are going to be shipped to TMP.

TMP really does know what they are doing, and back it up. I have had 4 motors from them, 4 750 efi's, one of which is still in my Sonic with about 390 trouble free hours, and the last two in my 4300 Nortech. I am having them build some 900efi's for my next boat. They are reasonable priced compared to some of the other professional engine builders, and conduct themselves like professional gear heads. I have turned them on to a few customers, and their results are all the same, Love my motors. In this business you're only as good as your last motor, check them out. www.totalmap.com

Thanks to everyone. All of our engines are built for you. If there's something you want, we'll be more than happy to work with anyone.

The Merc is a 557c.i. solid roller engine with 3.3 quad rotors that makes power at 5500-5800. The engine has a 90 day warranty, no closed cooling, and is around 65K engine only.

We offer a complete 850EFI single 3.3 whipple that is hydraulic roller and makes peak power at 5400RPM's. This engine comes complete with the best parts available, and includes custom paint, powdercoated pulleys, billet accessories, etc. The engine complete is around 50K including speedmaster accessories, bellhousing, coolers, thermostatic oil system, preluber, CMI exhaust, etc.

I've been trying to update the site, but have been too busy. I will hopefully do it soon.

Thanks,

Steve
