Re: Boating on the Great Lakes, is it Offshore

FYI: The Great Lakes (all of them combined, including their connecting waters such as Detroit River, Lake St. Clare, etc...) have produced more shipwrecks than all the 7 seas combined since shipwrecks have been reported. Now, these numbers include sunken "boats" the settlers used to traverse the lakes with their supplies.... so many of the wrecks are boats we might not consider "ships." Go to the Great Lakes Shipwreck museum in the Soo some time... very interesting.
If this includes all boats including ships as you stated, it only proves one thing.......You have more bad boaters than anywhere else  :evilb: :D

Just bustin, it can get as nasty as any ocean out there

Yeah, but good ole Audacity could still run 80 mph in it though.... those Active Thunders can run 80 in anything!! LOL!!! :D

Erie the scariest because it changes so quickly.
Never been on Ontario
Michigan and Huron are tough
Superior will kill you and keep your body.

I've heard that about Superior. Thats because of the depth, correct? Something like you sink so far that the pressure doesn't allow the boyancy of your body to flaot back up.

They canceled our race in Buffalo in I think 2000, 12' to 15' crashing over the sea wall. Quite an amazing site. Jo

I've heard its the cold water. Bodies don't bloat up in that water so they don't float. Kinda morbid but I believe its the actual reason they say "Superior doesn't give up her dead".
That line is in the song.
