30,35 cat question?

I have a question for you cat owners.

I currently have a 26' cat and want to go bigger. I am looking at a 30' cat, but for a little more money I could do a 35'.
My question is a 35' just too big for lakes... ie: lake havasu, mojove and even parker, i see 28..30 Eliminators all day long, and they dont look too out of place at the river... but is a 35' 1/4 canopied race set up just over kill ?

Also...how do you big boat owners like your 32-36'?
do you ever wish you had stayed with a 25-30'?
How about getting around docks? or beaching boats of this size?
trying to make a decision....thanks

what 35 are you looking at?

i have a 30 spectre and think it is just about the perfect length for go fast on a lake..... but like everybody else, i am looking to go bigger sometime soon... :D

i would say staying under 36 will keep you life simplier.. towing, storage, docking will all be easier plus insurance will be easier to get and afford.

You have the classical case of "threefootitis". Only YOU can decide what is right for you. The best way is to ride on each and also determie how you are going to use the boat.

The mistake so many make is buy one 3 foot longer then a year later go for another 3 feet.

#1: How do you use the boat.

I go to havasu at least one a month and also been going to Mojave and staying in laughlin....I cant imagine lauching a 35'...but then again i couldn't imagine launching a 26' when i bought it!!!!

I have been looking at Motion, spectre, eliminator, dcb...etc
I like Motions pricing...their 35' is not a lot more than their 30!!! Any thoughts on Motion?

What you need to look at is how much HP you are willing to purchase to make the boat you buy run the speeds you expect.

The 32' Skater is a great boat and the new 32' Spectre is a really good looking boat also.

Either of these will run respectable speeds with a pair of 525's or so.

i thought it had to be a motion, that 35' gives it away.... nice boat, take a look at lubejob42's....

i would take ec39's advice, plan ahead and save yourself some money in the long run...

Peir 57 has a new 36 spectre still on MSO with only 60 hours on it. It was on the cover of hotboat last year and I heard that they have it priced under 200K, that about 35k under any other boat that size. and about 50k under book. Spectres are one hell of a nice boat for the money. In my opinion nothing else compares for that price.
