Re: Incredible Boat!!
..looks like a Monster Garage creation... :D
|
Re: Incredible Boat!!
It was on one of the Discovery networks the other night. Two diesels and two turbines to fire up for when you wanna GO. The interior is gorgeous, and with the bridge/topsides design there is not a bad seat in the house.
It's pretty incredible. |
Re: Incredible Boat!!
Try a Millenium Yacht . They're a litlle more mainstream design-wise.

That is the Millenium 140 "The World Is Not Enough". Kind of rediculous for a yacht that size to go that fast......IMHO INFO HERE |

Re: Incredible Boat!!
I went on board "The World Is Not Enough". Great piece of engineering. I was told they got up to 67 knots so far but that turbines were not giving full power and that they were planning modifications on the hull right after the show. They are expecting 70+ knots (80+ mph). She is powered by two Paxman 18-cylinder diesels @ 5340hp. each and twin TF40 Lycoming turbines @ 4600hp. each. This requires so much air that the yacht has a forced air intake across the whole transom, with an emergency shut down system in case of following seas. I wish they put a sofa in the engineroom because this is where I'd spend most of my time while on board.
However, the interior is junk. Everything is mounted on a nomex core and while this is done to save weight, it looks cheap. All cabin doors are only 3 lbs. and it shows. It just lacks the substance expected on a 140' superyacht. Beyond that feel, the fit and finish is far from perfect. And the interior decoration looks like it was done by Donald Trump. Lots of gold, translucent plastics, Versace fabrics... Not worthy of a US$ 23 million asking price. Unfortunately, most people with that kind of money will prefer to buy a displacement yacht of that size, made by a reputable Italian or Dutch builder, which will be finished to superyacht standards and much more comfortable underway and at anchor. Because a shallow draft, light displacement and three decks is a perfect recipe for heavy rolling at anchor. And if they feel the need for speed, they'll just have an Outerlimits or whatever as a tender. |
Re: Incredible Boat!!
i hear they plan on running the 140 footer at the world finals in key west this year...did you notice the beaklike bow shape? i'm not sure if reggie is involved with the project or not. :evilb:

Re: Incredible Boat!!
The guy that owns the Millenium used to own Octa***** (fallow the James Bond Theams). He was based out of Boston for a while. Guy likes his fast boats. He pays big bucks in commisions for every MPH over X that it goes. Octa***** was 100K for every mile per hour over 50 it went and as I recall the bonus was 1.5 million   At leaste that was the rumor......

Nah That's just plain ugly

Re: Incredible Boat!!
He owns the Wally. I saw him on the discovery channel. Not bad for a criminal and 10th grade drop out.
QUOTE"While on probation for auto theft he started a honda dealership and years later owned 29 dealerships. Staluppi and Rosatti opened their first Florida dealership and later started West Palm Beach auto mall and the North Palm auto mall. In 2001, a trade magazine ranked the Staluppi-Rosatti auto group the 20th largest in the country with total revenues of $900 million. Rosatti alone was ranked 56th, with revenues of a half-billion. Such earnings in legit car business must have been awesome for two convicted auto thieves." |

Re: Incredible Boat!!
audiofn, john staluppi owned "octo*****" and now owns "the world is not enough". i believe he actually owns or is at least part-owner of millennium yachts, the manufacturer.
as for the wally, i don't think staluppi owns that. i think she's owned by luca bassani, the owner of wally yachts. this is mainly because they could not sell her. i believe they are asking 23 million euros (US$ 30 million) for a yacht that never achieved 70 knots she was supposed to. last august, because of the heat which affects the output of turbines, they never got her over 55 knots. in comparison, the millennium 140 is pretty good value at "only" US$ 23 million. as for the 118-meter project that looks like some sort of household appliance, it was designed by the crazy Frenchman Phillippe Starck. It will be built in Germany by Blohm & Voss. Delivery is scheduled for 2007 and the price is rumoured to be around 130 million. Owner is Russian. |
