Re: raylars 496 engine kits ?

I would like to see them offer an exchange program where you send then your long block and they send you back one with their kit installed and all you have to do is bolt back on the accessories.

Re: raylars 496 engine kits ?

I too am interested to hear who has tried their kit.. Ray seems very knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions,, but a real world marine application experience would be helpful.

I have my heads seating here. I waiting on the machine shop to finish the shot block and my intake to show up. I can give you results but its not intended for a boat. The only reason I'm hear for the 496 info.

Robert:

Lets get real here! The reason these other engine shops did not get our Raylar heads before our paying customers was a two fold reason. First our customers who have now received our heads have PAID for Them! All of the shops you have mentioned wanted our heads for free so they could suppossedly test them! This may be an honest statement by some, however we know some just wanted to get their hands on them so they could try and possibly copy or make them look bad so they could sell their wares instead. I am pretty dam sure our heads don't need any more testing, because we have been testing them for over a year and we now know they are just right! The people in the industry such as Tom at Flagship who have been a real friend and mentor have their heads no charge! and they will be shortly receiving the rest of the kit to run his evaluations. I am not going to be shipping out $2800 sets of heads free when I have customers all over the globe that are dying to get them especially when they have paid for them. Robert we have shipped you all the new parts for your motors as quickly as you ordered them and your two sets of heads you ordered are ready to ship now, we just had to refit them with Inconel exhaust valves for your Whipples. I hope you still want them. Call me asap and I will ship them right out SO YOU DON"T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT TIME OF THE DAY YOU WERE BORN IN! As for testing, our kits are no bull! they just work becuause they are awesome parts with great engineering , excellent materials and manufacture. We don't need anybody else in the industry to confirm by test our kits and parts work, let the results speak for themselves.Their is an independant before and after test that was just completed by a major magazine which will be out in their May issue which will lay all skeptics to rest. Raylar 's BCK103 kit installs on a stock 496HO and makes an honest 525HP- NO BULL! We have never and will never make any claims we can't back up with results. Let's stop spreading bull around on this wonderful website and just stick to the facts!

I'm sure has been asked, but I don't remember the answer. Is this kit for the 496 mag and 496 mag HO? I assume yes, and would it produce the same power starting with either motor?

26sonic 03-03-2005 07:41 AM

Re: raylars 496 engine kits ?

yes, the only difference is on the 496 mag you need to upgrade to a 496 ho computer if i understand correctly.

Holy sh*t...if your going to continue this crusade :argue: , at least make it easier to read and follow. When you compose a post like this... the credibility of your position suffers.

Hey Escape,
Did Modern have that at the Detroit show? Looks good and that should help move your boat along. Dwight

That looks awesome!! I think the heat exchanger would look great red too, if the paint could withstand the heat... :D

Just out of curiosity, how much did all that set you back?

Re: raylars 496 engine kits ?

Hi Dwight, yes, Modern Marine displayed my engine at both the Chicago and Detroit boat shows. Maybe now I'll be able to keep up with you guys on the Northern Michigan Fun Run!

Harper, the final $ numbers aren't in yet. So far I've just been paying what you see on the Raylar web site for the Raylar kit, including the Mahle forged pistons and H-beam rods, and about $3,000 for the Bassett headers and SS water lines. I also paid about $800 for the Dooley 14qt oil pan. The only labor I've paid for to date is for prepping the block for the .010 over forged pistons. Future expenses are for the coil relocation brackets and ECM relocation hardware. Also, the 106 kit requires an "E-box" that will modify the stock ECM's fuel curve. That's a whole different subject that I know little about at this time, so don't ask me questions I can't answer! I agree that Modern Marine did a nice job with the paint. Kudos to Brock for his painting skills. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Looking forward to getting it all together and seeing what happens on the dyno and the water. Raylar says I can expect 560 HP, but I'm more interested in the torque numbers.

This is very interesting considering that you called my shop and talked to me personally and talked to me about my cylinder heads and you decided to order the heads so I dropped everything to get your cylinder heads ported and finished, I also next day aired parts in for you and then you told me you did not want the heads when they were ready to be shipped. Then you called back the next day and changed your mind and once again wanted them, and wanted flow numbers on the cylinder heads so I flowed the head then you wanted flow numbers on a stock head, then you said you would just pick them up after going to the cleveland boat show. Several days later after the show I called you and you once again decided you didn't want them. So I also am out money and time and have no trust in you!

TYler just left my phone no. at your shop .Made a bad decision with some infleunce ill make it right. All I wanted ,was to do the best thing to my motors.Ray knew I wanted your heads , to keep my compression down.Ray called me more then once in jan.-feb finally convinced me to use his heads with a thicker headgasket.disapate heat better 250#s lighter and make over 800 hp with my whipples .After Ray read my thread he called me ,ask what my problem was told me to read his thread.then reminded me that Ijagged you off for that Im sorry

Although it doesn't look like it, I think the heights are very similar. Next time I see the engine, I'll measure the heights of the stock and Raylar intakes. I'm interested too! It may be a couple weeks before I get back over to the dealership.

Escape I do not think keeping up with me was a problem. Keeping up with the big boats was the problem. Hey I was there for the sun and fun...Considering I have over 500 hours on the boat, it does good. Are you going to make the run this year? Dwight

Escape Velocity 03-05-2005 09:51 PM

Re: raylars 496 engine kits ?

Hi Whitey, depending on the date and the weather, I'd love to do it again. The bigger boats definitely have the advantage working through the waves!
