One thing I like about my average 311 "Formy" is I've seen damn few 16 year old boats that look like this. Cuda's 302 is in the same shape.
The few I have seen that are close are displaying the "Thunderbird".... |
Re: Average Boater
Just another average guy here.

Re: Average Boater
too old is far from an average boater... average boaters eat at BK they dont own da joint, sheeesh. don't know if im an average boater 1979 35ft mistress 22k. its an older boat but in puzz cond, but on the other hand 1000hp blower motors are above average. i think anyone with a hipo boat is more than an average boater.

Re: Average Boater
Average here, if it wasn't for spending every waking second outside of work trying to court sponsors, I couldn't afford to own my little 24 Pantera let alone race it.

LOTO's definitely one of the stops for this year. (Along with Put In Bay and maybe Thousand Islands, and more) Heard Troutly is considering a place there. Maybe we should meet him down there and help him pick out a spot...you know, so we all have room to dock, etc. when we go down there. :D

If I could find a way to move up out of the average category, I'd get a pilot's license and buy a Cessna 182 or equivalent. Then it would only be a 4 hour trip...

Re: Average Boater
I was following your thread on the new boat. Congrats. I'm sure you;ll love it. LOTO is on the list this year. My wife has family in St. Loius and we've already promised the trip. I'll look you up when I'm there. Hope you get a chance to run the boat this weekend. maybe you can get some sleep after that!

Re: Average Boater
Yes average, don't even have boat yet still working on that one lol.
2 year old home, new car, and truck, and no toy's at all. Selling house also taxes insurance etc same old chit. The best part is going to have first kid in Nov. but thats all good. Troutly said it right hope we can not have day care rather be there then someone else. been to smoke on the water 3 years in a roll and love it. just from shore one time waterfoul took us out but the water pump belt blow the thought that counts. Be on fast boats but all friends or people from this site which are kind enough to let me come with. i will still dream chit thats all i got right now :D :D :D |
Re: Average Boater
Average? What do you call average? If you mean average size boat, then that's me! I have a 22-foot bowrider. How's that for average? :)
If you mean average lifestyle... I have a boat, a truck, a Harley, and I live in a one-bedroom apartment. I love my job and I enjoy my free time with friends. However, most avid boaters would consider themselves above "average". We enjoy a lifestyle that the majority of people will never know or understand. I can't imagine a summer without a boat. Man! What would I do??? I love boating and I love OSO! :D |

Smart Azz!!! Average meaning down to earth. I guess I was venting because of a couple of instances that displayed the idea, "If it aint worth a half mil, why bother?" I was looking forward to getting these responses. Just goes to show that we are the majority. :drink: |

Average guy, average truck, average boats (but I LOVE 'em), above-average wife! Beautiful, talented and loves to go boating almost EVERY weekend of the year. Over 200 hours last year, ans she's with me just about 100% of the time!

Re: Average Boater
Totally average here, '01 Ram 4x4, '96 Ebbtide and a modest country home. I also have a great wife and kids! I must admit I am striving to add a few zeros to my income.

Re: Average Boater
I sold my boat to "downsize" and I had an average boat to start with! Does this mean I am "below average" now? ;)

Re: Average Boater
I have average boats and average everything else...as far as being an average boater umm nope thats not me, I eat sleep, and breathe this crap. Go ever single chance I get in both the summer and winter. I have to use boats just to remember numbers and dates. When a noreaster is blowin and the lake is crankin out 6 footers you can find my dumb azz on a beer run to the island :evilb: hell I got a tatoo of a prop and poker hand and my first kid is probably going to be named something like "Sterling" I have met some of my best friends thru boating and have met several people all over this country through boating that I consider my friends nope..not average here...Im plum ate up with this chit. :drink:

Re: Average Boater
Average?? depends on the company you keep. In some circles we are above average in others below. It also depends on what is important to you, some people will sink all their money into an expensive boat and live the rest of their lives cheaply. Just cause you see a guy on a poker run with a hot rod does not always mean he is big wheel in the rest of his life.
Ian and I are trying to achieve a balance, we have a larger boat cause we sleep on it, and don't want to spend money on hotels. But we bought it used, never could have afforded new. Ian does almost all the work on it himself, yesterday he worked all day long on the engines in our garage. We also store it in our driveway year round (another money saver). We have a nice new house but we worked long hours sub contracting it and doing a lot of the work ourselves. Ian works long hours of overtime every week so we can pay for everything, no kids is also a savings. We do like those fun runs that don't charge you an arm and a leg, that's why we belong to COPS and LEOPA because even though there are a few hot rods, the majority are just the average guys enjoying a good time |
Re: Average Boater
"Average" is a relative term but based on the responses I'm in this category. A 1994 Donzi 18 Classic towed by a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner and a condo. It's not a big boat but if the waves aren't over 3-4 feet I'm out on it every chance that I get and having a blast. Someday, if the finances permit I'll get something to handle the bumpy days but until then I'll be havin' fun with what I've got.
