Re: Boat sound law??
I think its just a California/Arizona Lake Havasu BS Law their enforcing starting this 05 season. It's got everybody out here in an uproar. Truthfully its just another reason to pull us over on the water and test for alcohol BAC. I would check with the local Law Enforcment in your area before anything.
Good Luck, hopefully you guys aren't getting Fu&ked out there too! |

Re: Boat sound law??
Its an AZ/CA thing. We are putting together a legal fight to overturn it though.

Re: Boat sound law??
I have dry exhaust and have never gotten anything from the police on Tampa Bay other than a wave and a smile.

Re: Boat sound law??
Boatings not the only sport under attack for noise,in michigan and wisconson there has been a crackdown on loud snowmobiles, orvs and there are circle tracks requiring race cars to also be muffled, every year it gets worse and people have tried to fight it but i have yet to hear of any noise law getting changed back, yes,it sucks but is the way of the future. Blowboaters, lakefront property snobs etc don't have the same appreciation for dry headers on a offshore boat that some people have. The sad part is the guys who put extra loud silencers on their snowmobiles, mega phone exhaust on their quad runners and dry exhaust on their boat for no special reason other than because they love loud stuff get ALL of us unwanted negative attention then the do-gooders want laws against it but they set the limits where it affects EVERYONE,not just the worst offenders!

Re: Boat sound law??
There was a whole article about the new laws in California and Arizona. They also talked about the proper testing techniques. Another section of the magazine had all the noise DB laws listed for each state, if mufflers were required and if you could run switchable exhausts.

Re: Boat sound law??
I've never heard of anyone ever getting hassled for loud pipes here on Florida's West coast.
Another boater's advocate group, the Citizens for Florida's Waterways, already well established on the East coast, is going to be starting a West coast chapter. I will have more news on this shortly. This group was one of the two sponsors of the "Boater's Rally" (to save Family boating, fight the manatee madness, and stop holding up dock permits) held last Saturday, March 12, which I organized the Venice site. For unknown reasons, Standing Watch did not want to participate or help out. I thought that was very odd of them to not be involved with what they are supposed to be protecting. We are going to war against the Save the Manatee Club. For far too long legislation has been based on their opinions and their opinions alone. And now scientific fact appears to be heading in the opposite direction as their ranting would have people believe. Stay tuned for upcoming details. |
Re: Boat sound law??
Lets all move to Russia, Its allot less Comi like there.
I don't Know about the boating but the women are hot. |
Re: Boat sound law??
Last year at the OSS race in St. Pete, the course was practicly in the middle of the bay because they were worried about the manatees. The year before at the APBA race you could actually see the names on the boats from the shore. I have a feeling thats why St Petes not on the schedual this year. But thanks for answering my question. I have a big block with dry stainless marine exhaust and i was wondering if i should get mufflers for it before I paid a ticket.
