Man your looking for all the bling bling... :D:D:D

You know they'll steal those covers at the same time as your props!!!

Get boxes and keep them nice wheels under lock and key.

Re: Merc Prop covers

I agree with GLH. Remove the props if you are not with the boat. The covers draw attention to the fact that the props were left on the boat. On the other hand, if you want to cover the props while on the way to the ramp or while waiting in line to go into the water at a poker run or something, then they are not a bad idea.

I am sure that some of the major companies like Teague, C&P and some of the others would carry them, but you can get them directly from Mercury. Here is a link to the most recent version on the Mercury Dock Store web site. It appears that these will act as prop covers while the props are on the boat and storage bags while the props are off of the boat. Here is the link...

Re: Merc Prop covers

Are the Merc prop covers able to be used in the water? I have been thinking about buying a cover to use on my prop while beached to prevent anyone from killing themselves on the prop while in the water.

PropGear used to make this one below, (sorry, only pic I have), in a plastic mesh. It worked GREAT in the water, and fine on the trailer. I loved it. If you look close you can see the prop inside of it.

They do not list it on their website anymore though. I bought it through Overtons several years ago. ( www.propgear.com )

The Merc ones, the ones Rich & I have above, and the ones you can buy at West Marine, are all made of canvas, and will soak up water, and probably not work well under water. We had the ones above custom modified by a local shop here in VA.

Maybe try and track down some mesh ones through www.overtons.com or contact PropGear directly off of their website.

Pointerman, check this out:

http://www.hardlineproducts.com/propgear.html . Go figure.

I saw on another site, that they say it is good in the water as well as on Hardline's website.

I'll take the credit on that one. :D

I bought Rich's and my prop covers from West Marine. I took them to a local Auto Upholstery Shop and had the outer panel gone over with black vinyl in order to apply vinyl graphics. I had the local sign shop make up my graphics in reflective lettering, and they turned out great. Its been a couple seasons, and the letters a peeling a tiny bit. I might go with a new phrase this time.

They are also available directly from www.propgear.com

Merc wants $90 for one. Rumor has it you have to have them on your boats when they are on the trailer at poker runs

I have never heard of this requirement at a PR, but worse to worse, drape a couple towels over them when parked for a while.

RACES... normally at tech inspection, they require prop covers.

Prop Gear linked above makes covers for duo-props. I am sure they can make whatever you might want. Many of the race boats have custom canvas made for shafts, rudders, and drives. If you find great canvas shop, I bet they could make anything for you.
