I Have A 34ft Powerquest. I Need A New Anchor. I Am Considering The Box Anchor For River And Ocean Use. Anyone Out There Ever Used One.

We have a 25' boat and rafted off a 31 Sonic, a 35 Sonic, a 42 Cigarette and a Scarab 29 on one box anchor and we stayed right where we started.

We have one. They hold in mud, gravel you name it. But the down side is they are very heavy. Our Fortress weighs about 1/3 of the box anchor and holds just as well. With the box you dont need a chain. Just a pain to lift out and up into the boat.

Holds Well On Any Bottom, Does Tend To Collect A Good Bit Of Mud And Must Be Rinsed Before You Make A Huge Mess Inside The Boat.

I was tied up with SummerObsession when he used his for the first time and it worked like a charm :cool: He was so proud 'cause he just learned a new knot out of some fishing magazine and got to use it for the first time :p

Box Anchors are great.with your boat get the small one.....they talked me into a large one and the old lady has a hard time with it up arcoss the bow, so we got a small also

Before you buy one, you can try mine. We had a 31 Fountain center console, my 32 Fountain Fever, a 23 center console, another 32 Fever and one more small boat tied to one Fortress in Wrightsville beach. There was a strong current also. I went and bought a Fortress the next day.

Yes the box works great, but as others have said it is heavy. I have a fortress also and use it most of the time because it is easier to deal with.

The Fortress is junk where I live...I gave mine away. The Box anchor was the single best accessory I ever bought for my boat. It NEVER slipped & took hold the first time every time. Yes it is heavy, but I'm the one who raises it so it's a small price to pay for ease of use. I'd probably try the small one if I had it to do over again.

We have the box anchor and it is great!!!! Get the small one ...they are not as heavy.

i love my box anchor, was amazed at how easy it sets, always had trouble getting a good hold with other anchor's and dreaded getting one out. know its one throw and you are done. i will never be with out it. it easy to stow as well and i don't have to deal with the darn chain. love it

We bought the box anchor last year and love it! We did buy the large and would have been ok with the small (we have a 32' Stinger), but it holds in anything and that's what we liked about it. Don't think you'll be disappointed at all and it comes in a storage bag which is also a plus.

I bought one last year during the group buy. Worked so well one time that it is still on the bottom of the lake, :( . I need to get another if anyone is going to join in for a group buy.

Holds the 35 Sonic like a champ. Folds up nice and easy for storage under the rear bench. The fortress was always a pain in the azz to set up/tear down and stow away.

If you have a front anchor locker (the sonic doesn't) then a fortress would be better since there's no tear down.

the box anchor works great, I used to live up the street from the guys who build em. they were building them out of their garage back then but I'm sure they have a shop by now. it was 3 brothers i think and they were crazy. no doors on thier house anywhere just beads and rugs hanging in every door way even the front door. real nice though within ten seconds of introducing myself they offered me a beer :drink:

Box rules. Small one held 7 boats rafted up during a windstorm at lake powell - amazing. Only anchor I'll use now.

The Box is AWESOME! ***** to bring back up tho. Hard to get all the dirt out of it before it gets to the surface so you get a bit of a workout retrieving it.

Only one I will use. I have their 'medium' size. I bought it for my 26' and use it on my 37'. Its perfect.
