What a difference a few days make. I was in ABay yesterday and the main channel and creek near AquaMania looked great with some minor lingering ice float around some of the docks. I noticed some of the floating docks looked low in the water. Does the water level come up somemore?

Ing, they keep the gates open down river until the melting snow pack in the water shed and spring rain comes to an end. Keep in mind that is the outlet for ALL the great lakes, opening the gates after flooding occurs is too late. Still a lot of melting to happen on the other side of the boarder water shed. This is a delicate balance, if they guess wrong and we have a dry spring water will be low all year.

I can tell you that Oneida is about as high as I have seen it in a while, and the gates to Oneida have been open all winter.

Good scoop and makes sense! Thanks. I'm one of the Captains at Erie Canal Cruises down at Herkimer. Our largest vessel Lil Diamond III is in storage on the western side of Oneida Lake. We plan on moving it back to Herkimer on or about May 1 or 2. The Mohawk and Erie Canal are also very high and similar situation as you mentioned for the St L. The elevation high point for the Erie canal is actually at Rome.
