Bought mine from AutoZone. HD stuff. Steel gear housing, varible speed, 12 amp. Standard shaft thread too, not like the odd ball plastic buffer that Sears sells.

Re: Detailing, buffing equipment?

get the lightest one you can find, your arms will thanks you. a buffer should turn no more than 1750 rpm for buffing and use an orbital polisher for waxing, advance/discount auto parts has an orbital polisher for 19.95 @ the fla. stores i picked one up yesterday for waxing my cig.

I use a Milwaukee 7" dial contraol buffer and a craftsman 10" oscilating waxer. Steve

Dewalt 849 works well for me 1000-3000 RPM's you can find it from $149-$180 weight is 8.25 lbs if you are only going to use it for your boat it will last a long time.

Re: Detailing, buffing equipment?

I'm assuming you're looking for a polisher not a buffer.

The best one is a dual-orbital by the brand name of Cyclo. It's a piece of artwork- pricey but worth every penny.

Meguiars makes a polisher that's not to bad price wise, but you get what you pay for.

A buffer is OK for taking off chalk but way too fast for final finish on a premium paint job.
