Re: V8 Marine Diesels
I really like the idea and it looks like price is in same ballpark as Yanmar pricing and tth MarineDiesel is alot easier to retro fit that Yanmar.
The beauty is range and fuel cost. I kinda like the exhaust for mosquito control.

Aren't most diesel engines heavier than the gas engines? Although if I was thinking about diseals in a go fast I would be leaning toward Nortech with 1050 manns!!!! If they could only build those Manns a lot lighter we would be in!!! Reliabilty out the ass...........

Titan- I read an article in one of the boat mags about the MANs. It seems they have gotten the weight on the 2000 series direct injection engines down to BBC weight and get this 1200-1500 hp

Re: V8 Marine Diesels
Hi there.
I have a marinediesel engine in my Cobra 860 centerconsolle.
(cobra 860 is an old splash off of a magnum 27)
The weigth of the marinediesel is 415 kg that is aprox the same as a big block v8 gasoline.
I have had my hammerhead diesel engine for 2 years now and run it on a standard mercruiser bravo one 1.36 gearing.
My boat weights about 2,5ton with full dieseltank and watertank.
the engine now 300hours.
I had my bravo outdrive checked this winther, it has no wear at all.
usally drive my boat att 3100rpm.

With the Arensens they would make a great combo in a 40+ footer!

Don, there is a dealer in freeport.
A tigershark would be nice in the progression.

I'm in the process of working with some college students that race Dodge cummins trucks.... the 5.9 is a straight 6 but they are getting awesome HP and torque out of daily driver reliable engines.... and they run them HARD... I know a boat is very hard on engines, but these motors are gonna be awesome..... we are also working on a bullett-proof transmission low loss system.
