Do boat manufacturers keep wiring diagrams?? HELP

I have an old boat :drink: and the wiring looks like it came straight from italy (spaghetti) I am fighting a serious wiring issue right now. Do manufacturers keep this info on file or just build the boat and move on to the next one? Im gettin kinda angry at this point

I just went through the same thing. Had to trace each wire 1 at a time. PITA!

I have diagrams for an 88 Chris Craft Stinger if that would help. Also the Thunderbolt 4 wiring diagram can be found here:
http://www.marinemechanic.com/site/page250.html
And if you do a search someone posted a list of typical boat color codes for wires.
Even with diagrams it can be a PITA.

Hey thanks alot, I called Merc today and got the colors for the 9 pin harness that comes up to the dash so that helped a little, whats crazy is I got a twin small blocks and about 693 wires :evilb: All over the place. Mind you the boat is a 77 so I expected it, but it was 70 degrees today, Im getting worried :drink:

I have complete wiring harnesses, Round Merc plug on engine end and flat 2 row on the other. Yank that crap out and start again! I just pulled wire through an old Fountain over the weekend that had the same problem. It's not worth tracing down if the wires are all corroded and ready to break anyway.

Lofty, can you shoot me some info on the harness? Does it fit all Mercruiser engines?
