Yikes.
I just realized that since I live and boat on the Chain, that I will probably see this guy again out on the water, in another boat. Being out and sharing the same waters as this guy is a LITTLE unsettling. I sincerely hope that he has learned from this event.

Last I heard, Sunsation USED to glass the hull and deck together, but no longer does in their "current" lamination schedule? I think they use something called plexus which is like a glue. Don't know that it is anywhere near as strong as glassing the hull.
I know of one other sunsation hull and deck separated in the same spot. Not enough glue??
Their boats were always VERY well built - just hoping quality isn't sacrificed for quanity and a name. After all, these are "World Class Offshore" Powerboats.

Jeopardizing quality over quantity and a name is something you’ll never find here inside of Sunsation. We feel while the incident was indeed very unfortunate and fortunate no one was hurt more, that it was indeed a lesson well learned by the operator and more respect due these caliber of boats.
Sorry that this guy had to "learn his lesson" at the expense of your boat's reputation and our insurance companies' confidence.
While it is impossible to legislate common sense, "accidents" like this one inspire lawmakers and treehuggers to try. And that in turn reduces the freedoms of those of us who would not push our watercraft beyond the limit of the laws of physics.
Are we doing a good enough job as a "sport" to spread the word about high speed turns, especially with but not limited to, stepped hulls?
(My insurance company wants to know.)

Why didn't he learn his lesson when he had his accident the other year? He has not learned a damn thing if you ask me.... He is bad for the sport and I hope that NO ONE will insure him. He has hurt not only himself but all of us by his childish behavior. Accidents happen yes, but this guy is a accident waiting to happen and IMO he still is.
