500 Mercruiser head replacement

Opinions please on the best head replacement for a 2000 Mercruiser 500. Is it possiable to get around 575 to 600 hp with a head and cam change on this engine. Thanks in advance for your help and expertise. :rolleyes:

Check out wags382's thread on cam reccomendations,jeff's hp 500's made 540 hp stock on the dyno at over 300hours. He swapped to afr 305's w/cnc chambers and optimized cams and made around 630hp,Smitty

WOW, thats impressive, does anyone have a set of used aluminum heads that they want to sell cheap. With the 500 making so much power how does that compared to the 525 both in stock form??
