MSD Knock sensor
Has anyone tried the msd knock sensor on a boat motor?
here is a link http://www.msdignition.com/tool_8.htm having detonated a fresh engine with probably bad gas I was considering this. |

Re: MSD Knock sensor
Got one in boat. Problem is you can not hear it between the exhaust noise & the wind noise. There is an adjustment for sensivity but I have never felt is was right. When I cruise at 3K the gauge is going wild saying detonation. When I am WOT it does not show detonation. When I am running hard it is hard to look at it. Has it saved me from tearing up a motor? Nope!

Re: MSD Knock sensor
I run them on both engines with gauges and idiot lights. I had to try several different senders before I found a set that would not go off above 5700 rpm. This was before I found out that the torque on them is important.
I had one go off at 4000 rpm when a lifter quit working. |
