Cleaning roller lifters

I have a motor that had some water get in the oil. Of course everything is covered with a milkshake goo. It of course is also inside of the lifters. What can I soak them in to get it all out. I was thinking of maybe brakecleaner or mineral spirits, but I am not sure. I need to get them clean so they will pump up properly and also not mix the milkshake with good new oil.

Any suggestions ???

you might try compressing the plunger with a vise then submerging in clean oil. do that a couple times & the lifter should be full of clean oil. tighten the vise slowly & protect the roller. use the end off of an old push rod to compress the plunger so the old oil can escape.

Put new oil in. Warm up engine. Change oil again.
There is such a small amount of water and oil mixed it will not hurt anything. If you have an exhaust riser gasket go bad you don't disassemble the entire engine.

You could spray them down with carb cleaner then soak them in fresh oil for a day or two.

Warm it up and then run it at WOT for a few minutes...it should get hot enough to burn off any unwanted moisture!!!
 :D  :D  :D  :D

Had one get water in it a few years ago--mechanic drained oil, filled with atf and turned over without starting to flush passages then refilled/ran/drained several times. Engine ran to spec till I sold boat 5 or 6 years later.
