Oil lines, what's what?

Ok I said I would never do this again, and will definitely check it before I spin a filter on. Does the oil go to the filter first then the cooler? Is the oil line on the right of the picture out, the other in?
Thanks
JIM

On my MKIV block it is setup like this... My adapter is marked "Out" and "IN".

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure so we do not spin another rod bearing this year
Installed an oil temp gauge by the filter to make damn sure oil is going though the filter :D

Keep in mind over the years I have seen these fittings leak . the hose gets soft from the heat . just keep a eye out for them.
