Blowers And Carbs-should I
In the process of building a 540/871 combo.I am hoping to use 2 Quadrajet carbs from 365 mags. The norm i know is 2 750 holleys. Will the skinny primaries and bowl size be a problem?I plan on a dyno run but was hoping someone out there might have already been there.

Go with the Holley's. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Blowers And Carbs-should I
If you're using them to save money, consider the time/money/effort to boost reference, correctlt jet, fabricate a way to mount them, and fabricate a throttle linkage. And hope while you're trying to set this up that you dont burn up an engine.

Don't mess around with the Q-jets .I've learned from the past building my hot rods buy the proper stuff now cheaper in the long run.

Re: Blowers And Carbs-should I
Holleys only. I am not sure if twin 750's will be enough with that setup. Do your homework or you will smoke the engines. Blower motors need a lot of fuel to live.

Re: Blowers And Carbs-should I
I would think it would need at least 850 with a 540.Barry grant has some reasonable carbs now and you can get them boost referenced already.I ran 2 gold claws 775 that flows 925cfm same blower and on a 460ci and made 762hp at 1 to 1 on the blower .
Pm ..Rum Runner he works for Barry grant ,he will shoot ya straight Do not try to use the quads . Please :D |
Re: Blowers And Carbs-should I
Looks like the quad go in the bin.Anybody got any 750's?

Re: Blowers And Carbs-should I
I still think 750's will be too small. You may need to be closer to 950-1000cfm ea. 540 CI and a 8:71 is big blower setup that needs fuel. Ask Dean Nickerson or some of the other experts. Holley may even have a tech line to call.
