Switch wiring question
 

I am adding some switches and looking for correct info

First one is for the drives.
Currently I have twin rocker switches for each drive
Also have one throttle switch that controls BOTH drives together. This was from Factory this way.
I want to keep the rocker switch assembly. And add in a TWIN throttle switch.
Currently I see the one throttle switch having the needed diodes to control each drive together. These wires go down to what looks like a distribution block. This block is way too low to gain easy access without tearing the boat apart.
My question is this, can I wire the twin throttle switches directly to the rocker switches?
Or would this cause a problem with electrical back feed?
I am worried that when using the rocker switch it would back feed power to the throttle switches. And then if I am using the throttle switches it would back feed to them. Or am I reading more into this?

Second is same issue, but with the trim tab switch.
I had and still want to keep the steering wheel switch and also add in a second helm mounted switch. Can I run two sets of wire to one switch without backfeeding?

Drives,
if you are replacing the single throttle switch with a dual, then remove the diode assembly and wire the new separate switches to the exisiting rockers in parallel. Just don't hit the up on the steering wheel while hiting down on the dash at the same time.

Its a cat and he only has one center tab.

oops, then no diode for the tab and wired in parallel also.

Another question, can youo clarify what you mean by parallel?
On the same pole screw? or spliced inline?

Just want to make sure I am thinking what yuo are talking about.
And yes the tab is a single center, however the drives will be seperate.
2 drives two seperate twin switches
one tab, two seperate single switches.

Want to use either one, but yes NOT at the same time.
Once I get it wired it will be the BEST :)

By i parallel he means to tee off each wire and just hook up another switch. as apoosed to i series witch would mean making a loop out of the wjole sytem and you would have to active both swtichs to make anything happen.

Both Drive switches are installed and working properly
I did have to wire down separately from the main switch.
I would have been able to just wire the new throttle switch directly to the back of the main rocker switches, however I was thinking about something that stopped me from doing that.
I remembered the original throttle switch would NOT allow me to trim past the guage indicators. They are wired to the trim solenoids preventing over trimming. The main rockers did allow me to trim past this point adn all the way to trailer position.
So, I found the purple wires and wired the blue UP to this.
All is great and fine for the drives. Well, except it seems as if my trim indicators are either cold and not working right or?

Tomorrow night I will tackle the tab switches :)

Why do you want the throttle switch to be able to go into trailer mode?

I think he just wants individual control of the drives at the throttle insead of one switch for both so actually both sets of wires are probably in there and just need to be segregated from each other. That way he will still have trim limit at the throttles and trailer on the dash.

Sorry for the confusion
I do NOT want the throttle switches to go into trailer height.
If I would have wired the new twin throttle switch directly to the rocker switches that is what 'would' have happened.
