454mpi vs 6.2??????
 

Does anyone know What the TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS are on these engines? Merc always publishes Horsepower but what is the differance in torque. I assume a big block makes more torque?

Talked to an engine wizard once about those two engines.

Said that the 7.4 MPI as a Little more of torque. Also said that the 6.2 should be a bit faster (1-2 mph).

The advantage of the 7.4 MPI will be appreciated when running heavy. The torque should take advantage over the 6.2 and then should run faster... Well, I guess it's about it. I had the 7.4 MPI. Given the choice again, I would go for the 7.4 MPI. Running stock, that engine should run for ever.

The exhaust sound of the 1 + liter does also make a difference :D

the 7.4 will make more torque only lower because of its CIs the 7.4 is a 454 where the 6.2 is a 383
