Trim Tab won't come up
 

I was getting mty boat ready for the season yesterday and checking everything and noticed one of my trim tabs won't come up. When I hit the switch for the up position I hear a single click from the solenoid and nothing else. It goes down fine, but now it's all the way down and I can't get it back up. Any ideas? All the switches are brand new and wired correctly.

Check for power on the solenoid when you try to bring the tab up. If no power then the solenoid is the issue otherwise recheck all the connections. After that the motor is most likely shot.

Yup....what zt260 said. If you have a clicking that means you are getting juice to the back.....so the problem is at the pump. You hear a click......and the motor works in the down position so i would guess its most likely the soleniod. You could try and "tap" on the motor while someone hits the switch to make sure the brushes arent stuck on the Up side of the motor. :)

Thanks for the responses. Do you know if you can buy just the solenoid? To save time, I would like to just go ahead and get one so I can get it fixed and go out next weekend.

You can buy the solenoid separately. But, it could just be a loose wire. Also the motor could still be shot. I would check the power before buying anything. If that’s not possible and you want to take a stab at it, buy a solenoid.

you can get the solenoids from NAPA....i dont know what the number is but i have gone in there with an old one and they matched it up no problem :)

Change the solinoid!

Mine did the same thing. To be sure swap with another solinoid from a working trim pump first.
